Qantas DSC October 2024 Offer - book by 31/10/24 & fly 1/11/24-19/10/25

I had some trans-tasman flights last week (CR flights as a PC+), and though my experience has been that they usually credit before landing or soon after, both segments were a couple of days after the flights, and then the DSCs arrived another day or so after those credited.

Cheers,
Matt.
Came in late today (Sunday).

Just had a an ORC adjustment made and the agent said DSCs will come through after the adjustment - has anyone had any experience re. this - does the DSC addition for the adjustment happen over the phone (agent denied this) or will it automatically come through after a few days?

last time I also just pushed for it over the phone and they were able to process it through as part of the ORC reconsolidation

A dilemma for me is the PER-MEL/SYD-AKL status runs, I'm pretty much doing a:
to AKL (QF149) via Syd - landing 1am
from AKL (AF152) to MEL - departing 6am

I'm just deliberating whether its even worth it to get a hotel right outside the airport or I just find a cozy corner to nap before immigration opens up again.

Anyone else whose done these kind of runs have any advice on this?

I haven't done this run, but it would be reasonable to allow 30-45 minutes for bags, customs etc etc, and then if it is a 6am flight then you want to be there about 4am for check in so...

The Qantas lounge opens at 4:30am and the check in opens at 3:30am.

If only landing at 1am then you’ve really only got 2hrs 30mins until you can check in again.

There is at least one or two places open in the food court and if you like Golf then JKs is open 24/7 so can go to the driving range for a bit. Can either get an uber or walk (but it does take about 30 mins each way from the terminal).

Only carry-on thankfully for this run so no need to check bags! Could be even lighter with just a backpack if not hotelling.

Man that’s tempting, lack of sleep golf at 1am 🤣!

Aren’t you coming across from Perth, only 8/9pm golf?

Depending on when you travel you might be able to get the ibis for ~$150ish but even then don’t expect to check in until ~1:30am and then have to leave at ~4:30am (factoring in the walk and airport formalities).

I’ve never done a back to back turn but have been in Auckland for work and stayed at the Pullman/Novotel and Ibis. With premium line access security and immigration is usually fast so I plan on entering the terminal about 50 minutes prior to departure for a 737 flight and always have time around the gate (but obviously no lounge time).

I booked a couple of flights during this period but I’m hoping they will do their usual DSC offer in March as that’s when my work travel becomes clearer. Do people know if they will do their usual DSC in March again?

No one would know - but probably - and we hope so.

Not sure if this is covered in another thread, but when I went to redeem my flight credit, the flights I was looking at on the Qantas booking site did not appear on the "Find Flights" site. When I phoned Qantas, they informed me I could not use my credit for the flights I wanted, they were only available to new bookings. I was not aware there were limitations on which flights one could use the credits on. Lesson learnt......

I think HUACA.

I’ve had similar issues with a couple of credits recently and both times the call centre was able to redeem the value and ticket the flight per the sale fares, keeping the PNR.

Historically the big issue was often the sale “fare” being cheaper than the value of the credit. I.e. the fare excl. taxes and carrier charges had to be higher than the credit. But i think that is no longer the case.

Depends on which CS Team you end up with. If Australian call centre then there is a chance they know how to permit to book for a same class fare.

There's a lot the call centre can do for booking including things that the t&c say they can't do. But some tasks are a bit more difficult than others so they may need to ask their team leader (even at Hobart or Auckland).

There is zero need to use credit on the same fare class. I've booked a fully flexible one way whY ticket and changed it to a return sale J fare before and also a whY sale with no issues.

The accents I was getting (today, Sunday) appeared to be South African, so maybe try again tomorrow. I have noticed in the past, when trying to redeem a gift voucher, that the offerings were less than the Qantas booking site.

Is there anyone who has used the old yolker method? (IYKYK) I think is the correct acronym.
