Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

Some amazing fares on Emirates today . . . . . I have been looking PER-IST then AMS-DXB-PER on both Qantas and Emirates for what seems like ever. Today is the best price I have seen coming in at just over $5.9K in J. Tempting . . . . . as lately (as in yesterday) it has been up to $8.4K on Emirates and the sky the limit on Qantas. Even with their recent sale, the best I could get on Q with all legs in J was via MEL and over $7K.

How important ARE those points and status credits..??? or is this just a taste of prices come the final authorisation..??? mmmmmmmm . . . . .

Silly question #2 - Am flying on QF9 in J later on this year. During the stopover in Dubai can I disembark the aircraft, strech my legs / shower in the Emirates J lounge etc?

Yes, in fact I expect you will be required to disembark the aircraft at DXB.

Just an update - QF never did call me, but I've called them back.

I was able to find the routing on Kayak from CNS - NBO via DXB quoted as AU$5616. When I called QANTAS, their price was over $5900! The QF Rep said that they have not finalised price negotiations, so this route is only available as a full fare economy route. The promising thing I've noticed is that the QF flight numbers seem to have been assigned:

QF 8719 DXB - NBO 10:45 - 14:45
QF 8721 DXB - NBO 15:05 - 19:05

QF 8720 NBO - DXB 16:40 - 22:40
QF 8722 NBO - DXB 22:50 - 04:50 (next day)

QANTAS suggested that I keep watching it.... I also have noticed that over the past two days, the Emirates site has a timeout error on this route. Previously, it would quote the itinerary. So something is definitely going on, let's just hope that it's to our financial benefit.

Still no EK Accra connections... Called reservations and they didn't have a clue, didn't even know it was a route the offered on the EK thingy.

Looks like you can book ex-DXB now (Just select the QF.com country as Europe/Middle East)
However looks like the dreaded CC verification is required via dnata in dubai.

I think we will have the answer on April 1 re disembarking, on good authority!

I have transited DXB (on CX to JED from HKG) and was directed not to disembark. Just a point of reference.
They obviously did not need to do a proper cabin clean and security inspection for the DXB-JED leg.

Cleaners came on we had to stay in our allocated seats so that they could check that the bags in the overhead were ours. Same situation in AMM as well (which I was happy with given what a cough hole AMM is).

That's very trusting of them to rely on the original country of departure, especially considering any security issues ex-UAE or Jordan would be their problem. This is why most flights are re-screened.
I would have thought in that part of the world this would be even more important.

I had the experience of transiting through DXB a few years ago (MH IST-DXB-KUL). Getting off during the transit was optional, we did that and got 'passout' type tickets to use to go through security to get to the departure hall (which you do after going through the transit gallery)

Cheers skip

PER and CNS are worse than Amman.

So when does "regulatory approval" come through? 5 days to go and everything I read from QF still has the asterisk.
