I have transited DXB (on CX to JED from HKG) and was directed not to disembark. Just a point of reference.

We de-boarded in AUH (our destination) but those continuing to Muscat stayed on board (flying BA back in 2010).

mmmmm . . . maybe I have spoken to soon, as the authorisation doesn't come into effect until 18th April, and there is still opportunity for application of review of the determination

The ACCC have revoked the previous Interim Authorisation and issued a new one including conditions on capacity management on Trans-Tasman routes. This will then be superceded when final authorisation comes through, pending any appeals, on 18APR.

QF1 was going to go via DXB regardless.

Yes, you're quite right. Have updated my post accordingly.

I believe QF lose their old slots at SIN as of 01APR13?
Not sure if they lose them, historically they hang on to them and lease them out, rather than give them up AFAIK

Just saw this on the Agents site:

Qantas and Emirates - Joint Pricing Proposition

Latest Qantas News
Qantas and Emirates have coordinated tariffs and fare conditions for sale and
travel from 4 April 2013 on the following routes:

  • Australia to the United Kingdom (Economy Cabin only)
  • Australia to Europe (Economy Cabin only only)
  • Australia to the Middle East (all Cabins) and
  • Australia to Bangkok (all Cabins)

4 April looks like the date to watch...

I am confused about the start date of the authorisation:

708.This interim authorisation has immediate effect and will remain in place until either it is revoked or the final determination comes into effect.
followed by:

Date authorisation comes into effect
709.This determination is made on 27 March 2013. If no application for review of the determination is made to the the Tribunal, it will come into force on 18 April 2013.

So is it today (immediate effect) or on the 18th April (come into force)?

As it says it your two quotes interim immediate, full effect 18th April provided no review is made to the tribunal.

So does that mean they can go ahead from now? Or will they hold off for the final determination?

I gather it means they can continue to do what they have been doing for the last few months on an interim bases, which includes starting the code sharing arrangements to the agreed destinations

Basically, they have authorisation to do what they want to do, but everyone else can still have a last ditch attempt to rain on their parade over the next 3 weeks.
