No Status credits on EK. There are a non OW carrier.

Jock28, that is totally incorrect and I don't know where you made that one up from as OW has nothing to do with SC. In the press release, Alan Joynce said you would be able to earn SC and points on all EK flights.

I think we are going to be messing around with our July bookings because of this. We are flying Venice-Dubai-Singapore with Emirates simply so we could fly (from connecting Europe flight) Singapore into Australia to use points. Only reason for the Dubai-Sing leg. I am guessing Q might now ask us to fly Dubai - Adl which means we have purchased an unnecessary Dub-Sing leg in Bus Class.

OK, just repriced this itinerary (Sin-DBX-Ist-Ven-DBX-Sin) in Bus Class and removing the DBX-Sin last sector, the cost went from Sing$7400 to Sin$23000! Yikes.

If you don't earn SCs on QF flight numbers on EK metal (and probably some EK numbers on EK metal) I will do a nudie run down 16R at Sydney

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

That has nothing what so ever to do with it. Status credits are earnt on Qantas codeshares on other carriers that are non OneWorld, though clearly until it is all finalised and incorporated into the T&C's it remains to see what fare classes will earn what points.

I have no doubts that QF SC and points will be earned on the EK flights.
I also have no doubts that QF's OneWorld partners will NOT earn flight credit and mileage.

So I have negative interest in the QF/EK hookup. But then all of the inexpensive QF flights are now coded into Q N or E class which (other than the BA JSA routes) do not earn except in the QF program.

Happy wandering in the new world.

Email from Skywards just in:
Dear Mrs ABC,

Emirates and Qantas today announced a new global aviation partnership that will offer you a seamless travel experience from over 50 destinations in Australia via our hub in Dubai to more than 70 destinations across Europe, Middle East and Africa. By partnering with Qantas, Emirates is bringing you a new opportunity to earn and redeem Miles. The partnership is expected to start in April 2013, subject to regulatory approval.

As a Skywards member you can benefit from the best of both worlds:

- Earn Skywards Miles on all Qantas international and connecting domestic flights and redeem
them for any Emirates or Qantas flight.
- Avail of your Skywards tier benefits when travelling on Qantas, including access to the
most comprehensive airport lounge network, additional baggage allowances, priority check-in and
priority baggage delivery.

With Qantas' domestic network of more than 50 destinations and nearly 5,000 flights per week, fourteen daily flights from Australia to Dubai and beyond, improved schedules for flights to Christchurch and Auckland and the introduction of Emirates' daily A380 services on the Melbourne-Auckland route in October, you can experience more choice, greater frequency and the highest levels of comfort and luxury.

We look forward to bringing you more information on how you can benefit from this new partnership shortly.

Qantas and Emirates. Together we're connecting the globe.

Nlagalle: For clarification, can you point to the reference to SC earn in AJ's press release? I'm presumably missing something. Can find the statement about points earn but not the SC reference.

It was from his speech this morning. He specifically said Status Credits.

Got a reference for which press release he said this in?

Looks good to me. Personally it means I can visit my family in Scotland without having to endure LHR as EK flies to Glasgow.Haven't flown EK since 98 but have very happy memories of an excellent J product even in those days. It also helps me keep to my vow never to fly BA again after they made my daughter cry. I've had to break this a couple of times but would prefer not to.

As i pointed above he said it in his speech this morning. As I didn't tape it on foxtel I will have to source it elsewhere, but he specifically said Status credits.

I can find 'status benefits', just can't find the 'status credits' bit :)

Good to know when this will actually be live in the GDS. AS it still lets customers book QF1/2/9/10 flights to LHR via SIN.

Theqantassource mentions how the EK 777 product is inferior to the QF 330 product.

Out of PER, what product does EK run, as I can find mention to their 777's having flat beds.

3-4-3 is the big disadvantage, but if you are in a family of four, it doesn't make a difference does it.
