Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

Sorry, possibly for another thread, but I booked a QF/BA flight to LHR over christmas in J (QF to HKG, BA to LHR), on the understanding that I'd get full earn rate/SC's on BA metal. Has this changed?

No, the changes if approved are from next year, and even then BA and Qantas are OneWorld partners.

Qantas more or less abandoning Brisbane as a "1 stop to Europe" gives me no choice but search for another airline.
Even as a WP Qantas is making it hard for me to fly anywhere with them out of Brisbane.

Try living in PER! At least the EK tie-up gives us a few more choices, especially when EK get their A380's here.

I'm sure there is a silver lining...expect CX to bring on it's own script in due course.

Makes my Amex-supported CX card more valuable.

Suggestion to admin: could we introduce Cathay Pacific under Airline Loyalty Programs in this forum?

Does this mean that status points are earned on emirates? In the FAQ it only refers to points being able to earned..

I do hope that EK will keep their A380 Trans-Tasman flights though. Love their SYD-AKL service.

It is only one stop to LHR and FRA.

EK opens up a lot more choice than LHR and FRA

Questions I have...

1. Will Qantas still build a new F Lounge in SIN if there aren't any QF F flights to SIN? I assume the new F Lounge can be used by EK for their F passengers.
2. Which terminal does EK use in Changi?
3. Whats happens to the AKL J & F Lounge?
3. What happens to the EK J Lounge in AKL?

Same. Qantas International services to Adelaide are pathetic.

Emirates use Terminal 1 in Singapore.
Qantas aren't the only airlines using the F lounge in Singapore.

Pheww!! What a morning I picked to drive down the F3 and miss all the action :D
I'm pretty happy about this. I hope the agreements and code shares extend outwards from DXB to MAN, GLA and other EK European destinations.
Avoiding LHR altogether would be excellent.
I think EK Y ( service, food, IFE) is streets ahead of either QF or BA.
I'm also looking forward to some pointy end travel and trying the infamous Shower !

No Status credits on EK. There are a non OW carrier.

Examples on other oneworld carriers where 'the equivalent' can be earned on oneworld airlines
Would also seem to go against the "Treat each others customers as your own" guiding principle...

Well that sucks, particularly if not flying from SYD or MEL, as we would have no option but to fly EK. Definately on the plus side is the one stop to most of Europe and potentiall all the way to the East Coast of America from PER :)

Can you expand on that a bit? What do you mean by 'the equivalent'? I agree with your second point though.

How does SC work with Jet*. I assume because it is a fully owned subsidiary they are able to do it but, but Jet* are not OW.

mmm......... what about guests in lounges. EK do not allow guest access unless travelling in J or F

1. Yes. It's already underway and Joyce reiterated that the refurbs to SIN and HKG will not change.
2. T1, same as QF.
