10. If I buy a ticket on qantas.com how will I know who I'll ultimately be flying with?
The airline that you will be flying with will be confirmed during the booking process as currently occurs.
Can anyone see any EK flights coming up on Qantas.com? I did a quick search SYD-LHR in May and only BA and QF flights via SIN came up?

True but my reply was in relation to your comment that there would no longer be any earn on BA.

I did not word it right , the question was what changes, and the earn rate changes on BA back to normal from the higher earn on the Asian services thanks to the JSA, specifically a reduction from 1 to 0.25 base rate with this provision scrapped:

Travel in Discount Economy in the eligible booking classes between these city pairs will earn a base rate of 1:
- Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney and London or Frankfurt via Bangkok or Singapore,
- Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney and Bangkok or Singapore, and
- London or Frankfurt and Bangkok or Singapore.

First post here,

#### Ek!
if I wanted to fly with them or fly to those countries I would have by my own choice.I have Not nor will I
i don't won't to be forced to when I fly qantas
CX will get a lot of QFFF now I hope.
Say good bye to our QFFF award tickets on CX and BA no reason to make available any more.
No more WING lounge in HKG, NO more First class CX classic awards!!!
So SO Sad

Lol calm down all that remains.

This partnership looks quite good from what I read so agree with the sentiment that this is a positive move!

Looking forward to hearing more details about it all.

I think you have really jumped the gun here...

I think that Salon66 doesn't like the idea of being forced to fly on a middle eastern, muslim, carrier.

Question - Whats the go with Ramadan?
Is there no booze in the lounges for the month when it's on?
Is there no booze on flights when flying 'into' Dubai when it's on?

There's some odd figures being bandied about with respect to FF programs. Both guys (at separate times) claimed the total for both programs is about 8.3 million. EK has just said they have 7 million alone.

Also, a journo just said the route map he has shows no SYD-SIN. Joyce said that's wrong, "we might have to sack our graphic designer . . . there'll be multiple SYD-SIN services.

SIN and HKG lounge refurbs still going ahead, Joyce saying Asia is a big deal for QF.

I sure hope so, I just redeemed 100K worth of points to fly Business Singapore-Sydney-Adelaide in July 2013. Still shows in our profile.

Just this week I booked Singapore-Dubai-Istanbul-Venice-Dubai-Singapore on Emirates and QF up and down Singapore with Qantas. It was the best price structure. At the time. Emirates flights were very well priced but appreciate the service isn't as good as Q, perhaps.

I dont dare reprice this now.

We fly on the first day of Ramadan - the service doesn't change unless you are Muslim.

I like nothing better than a good QF bashing...but I'm really struggling to find anything to moan about here. The main impact for me will be flying through DUB instead of SIN, and I'm not too bothered either way. It looks like I'll have extra options to choose from if I need to get into Europe, so it looks pretty good for me.

Hopefully QF will continue flying to PVG.

Doesn't seem much in this for QF's OW partners though.

A year is a long time in Politics, even longer in the airline industry, just over a year ago QF were going to build a better Qantas with four pillars:

2.Strengthen Asia (Invest in a new Asian premium airline.)
3.Deepen and broaden alliances with LAN and BA, including strengthening the JSA!

I hope the other pillars are still going OK:

1. Customer Excellence
4. Ongoing Business Improvement

I see this as a positive move, however I do wonder what will be the picture in a years time! At least the lounge access with issues with BA have some logic to them now.

So i reckon everyone should just calm down a notch or two and wait for the fine print.....

Four pillars less two. The weight of the ceiling must be getting awfully difficult to hold up.

Sorry, possibly for another thread, but I booked a QF/BA flight to LHR over christmas in J (QF to HKG, BA to LHR), on the understanding that I'd get full earn rate/SC's on BA metal. Has this changed?

good to get some certainty back over the changes and good to hear that QFF will get an actual enhancement to provide reciprocal benefits to Skywards Gold.

They've hardly done anything ground breaking here apart from relocate the SIN hub and add some more codeshares to the books.

They keep talking about growth in Asia and tapping into it but only token services to BKK, SIN, HKG, TYO and PVG don't really speak to this as yet - I have a feeling that a QF entity in Asia is still in the plans for the future, 3K and the other JQ franchises certainly can't act as the feeder network for mainline at present.

Qantas more or less abandoning Brisbane as a "1 stop to Europe" gives me no choice but search for another airline.
Even as a WP Qantas is making it hard for me to fly anywhere with them out of Brisbane.

We had no problem this year flying RJ during Ramadan.
Does look like a lot of the speculation here came to pass.
Would the EK Invitation level be matched with CL?Dont think mere WPs or even exalted WP1s would get this privilege.
Having Aadvantage as my major program looks like I may be doing some more flying out of Australia on CX.JL.
What happens now with BKK.Will BA reinstitute there BKK-SYD service?
Will QF codeshare on EKs African services?
Lots of questions that hopefully will be answered in the coming weeks.
But cant help thinking there will be some unintended consequences of this tie up.

I believe the JSA terminates same time as FRA stops, thats end of March, regardless there is no change to J earn, its discount economy that will be impacted by the move on the routes indicated.
