Wow, this new JSA is huge! Gamechanger? Probably not but it is definitely a step in the right direction!! Only a handful of pax' are moaning about AJ and these changes but this is one of the biggest QF changes I have seen in my recent flying history.

As others have mentioned when will the release EK awards?!?!?! ;) ;) ;) I already checked and nothing available as yet (yes very optimistic I know) and hoping to snare a few EK F 388 flights :D

Well that sucks, particularly if not flying from SYD or MEL, as we would have no option but to fly EK. Definately on the plus side is the one stop to most of Europe and potentiall all the way to the East Coast of America from PER :)

There is nothing to suggest that it will be the case.

Lets wait for the full details to emerge.

Yep. I tried adding our QF numbers to our Emirates booking and no option to change that yet. :)

Qantas more or less abandoning Brisbane as a "1 stop to Europe" gives me no choice but search for another airline.
Even as a WP Qantas is making it hard for me to fly anywhere with them out of Brisbane.

BNE-HKG-LHR on QF and CX

BNE-DXB-anywhere (if happy to travel EK to DXB - you could then even transfer to QF onto LHR!)

I know that it will clarify in time but a bit confused by the joint question and answer web page by Qantas/Emirates in that is says flights to Bangkok will not be inpacted by the announcement today. Given the severing of the BA link in Bangkok for continuance onto LHR which I believe was known as the Kangaroo route I would have thought that the QF Sydney-Bangkok flight would have either changed in terms of times or aircraft type. Booked to fly Sydney to Bangkok next June (QF23) so obviously interested in developments here.

I am guessing the aircraft is already a 330 for your flight, so what is there to change to?

Wow, at some of the commentators (Ben Sandilands and Airline Hub Buzz on Facebook). They just don't seem to understand that Qantas can not and will not fly everywhere. As much as i agree with them on other issues, they are just becoming so bloody draining.

QF23 is operated by an A333 so there's really not much chance of a (permanent) aircraft change. Even though the JSA has a knife through it, I would think that QF flights to BKK would still allow for good connections to LHR with BA.

Sandilands will take the anti-QF position on any issue, doesn't matter what it's about. He has a real chip on his shoulder which is perhaps why he's no longer working for mainstream media.

Emirates Service during Ramadan:

“The holy month of Ramadan is an important time on the Islamic calendar, and we are committed to ensuring that our Muslim passengers are well looked after as they undertake their religious obligations,” said Robin Padgett, Emirates Vice President Aircraft Catering. “We have great respect for the cultural diversity of our customers, and our non-fasting passengers will continue to enjoy the world-class meals Emirates is globally known for.”

I also wonder if there will be some lounge real estate changes in our region?
MELQFEKlounges.jpg

Perhaps some knocking down of walls... what about some reshuffling at local competitor Virgin Australia's HQ airport, to bring about a larger Business/Gold lounge and renaming/refurb'ing a dedicated (Sofitel-style) First/Platinum Lounge?

No Status credits on EK. There are a non OW carrier.

You've just made that up!

Wait until the full details are released. You'll certainly be able to earn Status Credits when on a QF flight number, and I would suggest probably on at least some EK flight numbers as well. But let's wait until we actually know the facts before making definitive statements.

I like how Red Roo is browsing this thread ...... Red Roo, speak up!

Possibly, and I agree we need to wait, but as a general rule QF only awards SCs for partners who are One World, or they have a financial interest in them, such as FJ and JQ, MU and SA are good examples where SCs are not earned in a partnership.

I guess of particular concern to me now would be my baggage entitlements when flying Y to europe. Code shares have made such a mess of excess baggage entitlements, I hope an agreement is make with EK whereby QP, SG, WP, etc, are entitled to extra baggage when flying in Y.

That information forms part of AJ's speech this morning, so as such that information is already available.
