No, you definitely need to get the scripts for the above medications witnessed and approved.

Here are a few facts for the many non frequent flyers posting on this thread.

DXB is the 4th busiest international airport in the world.
DXB had 51 million passengers pass through it last year.

[REDACTED]

yet Emirates probably fly 5000 aussies a day to or through Dubai (wild guess but its thousands), and there doesn't seem to be too many issues does there
I have no idea as to the source of your figures but you have missed the point it seems....the fact that a number of posters have voiced their concerns (appropriate or not in your opinion) about transitting through Dubai lends weight to my comments above...

Absolutely agree! I have been astounded as well, by many comments here.

No, my point is that is what the website of the Australian Embassy of the UAE says - and tells you that you need to pay them $60 to do it.

However, if you click on the link to the Drug Guidelines - which is the official statement from the UAE Ministry of Health - there is no mention of the need to get prior approval for 'normal' prescription drugs, only that you can't bring in more than three months supply. Psychtropics and Narcotics are different.

So there is a conflict between what the Ministry of Health appears to be saying and what the UAE Embassy in CBR is saying.

Thankyou for the redaction.

I quoted my source: WILD GUESS

but thankfully markis10 managed to give us a more accurate figure, approx 3200.... then browki gave us the 51,000,000 passengers per year that pass through the airport. Now I know there is bound to be a few incidents but I guarantee there is incidents with medication, homosexuality, alcohol, whatever you want in BKK, SIN, KUL too.

I like the idea of the chauffeur service - I wonder if fare basis will play a factor? I expect though that they would have said something like "full fare passengers in business or first".

I'm interested in the chauffeur thing. I'm shopping () right now so can't check the detail. But I assume it's just for F pax?

What's this talk of a chaueffeur service? This thread is now all about drugs in Dubai!

What's this talk of a chaueffeur service? This thread is now all about drugs in Dubai. I think you need to get back off-topic!

Actually its highlighting the different things to be aware of with the changed transit point on to Dubai as part of this arrangement, including poppy seeds etc etc.

Put the hand bags away. I didn't see any DXB bashing from you, but there has been some pretty unfounded comments regarding why it is a stupid idea to go through Dubai rather than Singapore.

TBH, I haven't really been surprised by some of the naivety on this topic though. Things such as Dubai being war torn, no Australian wants to fly Emirates etc. I guess all you can do is shrug your shoulders!

Chauffeur service is available through Emirates to First and Business Class travellers in many cities. Because of the tie in with Qantas, Qantas is now offering it. They will chauffeur you to and from the departure and arrival airports.

F and J pax on flights of 12 hours or longer. Wondering if there's also fine print about excluding pax on discount F and J, award redemptions. etc. But even if that's the case, it's still an additional benefit.

I guess it's an example of QF matching something that EK already does, so they are aligned and consistent.

Which, as interesting as it is, is very off topic to the agreement between qantas and emirates. Probably deserving of its own thread in, say, the travel advice sub forum.

Yes. Not a DBX bashing at all, but something people do need to know about. It is a direct consequence of the announcement yesterday so quite relevant.

Well drug lords usually have a chauffeur apparently.

I guess in another 30 or so posts we will get back to talking about Status Credits and other important things.

On a frequent flier website you would expect that flying is assumed and then the enjoyment of the journey is a key consideration. This is even more important when you are discussing a transit option rather than a destination.
LOL - I guess I am used to flying to places where the terminal is a corrugated iron shed and the closest thing to a "lounge" is the dilapidated couch that someone has placed out the front.

Geoffrey Thomas in today' West Australian is very optimistic, saying "In one stroke, Qantas boss Alan Joyce has assured the future of the iconic white kangaroo . . .", "Qantas could not have picked a more dynamic ally", "My Joyce rightly claims the alliance will be a springboard for growth and says his staff should welcome it" and "There is little doubt that if Qantas staff do embrace the deal, their future is assured". Some very big statements.

Interestingly, I haven't come across any media from the unions.
