Here's a question for those in the know.

East coast USA with Emirates, will QF code share with them to take flights from Dubai to the USA?

If so it provides a new neat way of avoiding lax. ;)

Thoughts?

From the codeshare destination list that was 'released' yesterday, it's looking unlikely.

You could always go via DFW, though there's no F on this option, and it will involve having to fly with AA.

It's a nice thought, though......

ReLoad - I doubt it as QF will want you on their metal.
But you would be able to fly EK and get points (no SCs)

If this is the case I'd rather fly OW airlines on these routes..
But really we won't know 100% til March 31st exactly what the FF benefits/SC's are for EK only metal/flight number.

It would be a very pleasant way to get to somewhere like YYZ for instance.

Still we can only but wonder :)

possibly not with QF but AA is in talks with EK about codeshares so you may be able to go Aust-DBX-USA-Aust on QF or AA flight numbers.Just switch your FF numbers as required.

Having just done SYD-DFW on QF and JFK-DXB-SYD on EK, I would choose the shorter pacific route. Even if you fly EK in F, those extra hours are a killer. However I can see real advantages with having both options available.

Also hoping BKK-HKG on the EK A380 gets a QF codeshare.

BKK-HKG would be nice but I have a feeling that JQ HK will want to ply that route so they might prefer not to do a QF code on it

Was looking at a trip CBR-LHR-BKK-CBR and one of the options BKK-CBR was EK to Hong Kong then QF to SYD. Flight number BKK-HKG was EK, cost was actually less than direct on Qantas! But with that don't forget that RJ has a daily BKK-HKG flight.

Out of interest I phone Qantas about the $13k+ cost for economy CBR-LHR-BKK-CBR that the website is giving and the agent couldn't even get a price. He said he was going to 'report' it as an issue. So will see if that costs comes back to the $1800 odd it was showing last week.

I've been seeing a few like that as well if I add Paris into a multi-city booking. Exactly the same prices you are seeing too... Paris really isnt worth $11k!

Will HKG-DXB get a Codeshare and switch from CX Codeshare? Sorry if I've missed it. Also using QFF I still dont see any direct ADL-DXB, DXB-ADL awards. Nor any F awards yet. All the ones I have search go via MEL, SYD, etc. Still early days :)

Looks like Qantas have removed them again from the Awards search. They were there yestarday.

No mention of earn for EK coded flights in the latest official communique, I am beginning to suspect its a furphy:

My reading of the conditions when booking is that you get points but not SCs for EK flight numbers. Was going to call and ask but ran out of time...

t official communique, I am beginning to suspect its a furphy:

I again post the recent change to the popup fare rules... Suggests that some ACCC approval may be needed

Emirates operated flights: Subject to regulatory approvals in relation to the Qantas Emirates partnership, for those flights in your booking operated by Emirates with an EK flight number, Qantas Frequent Flyers may be eligible to earn points and receive certain other benefits (Qantas Frequent Flyer benefits will not be available unless such regulatory approvals are obtained). For any other flight in your booking, including flights operated by Emirates with a QF flight number, points and Status credits may be earned by Qantas Frequent Flyers in accordance with the program terms and conditions (available at qantas.com/terms).
