Yeah I'm on QF 77 1125-1725 and then QF 3345 (BA12) 2300-0500.

QF 71 wouldn't bloody show up in my search at the time for some reason. J was on special but now it comes up at 10k one way :eek:

So stuck in Singapore.

On the way home QF78 came up but no good landing in Perth at 0100! I have to connect to KTA first thing that morning so kinda my fault on the way home for the layover.

That makes sense.

I prefer 78 coming home as it is straight to bed for me:p
 
Assuming BA don't pull out of Singapore (doubt they would) - you should still be able to fly the old Kangaroo route, albiet you might have a longer stopover due to the new timings.

I've flown to London via Mumbai once and another time via Tokyo - both times QF out of Australia and BA out of Asia - it's not a published route but it was still possible. Assume this will remain the case with the remaining Asian cities both carriers still fly to.

Not to mention BA fly to Dubai - so you can still fly QF/BA on that route also.

This all assumes QF stays in oneworld. Surely they wouldn't leave.

Does Emirates have fly and rail partnerships with deutsche bahn in Germany? If yes, how will it be done online on the QF website?

I am assuming the JASA/FASA will not be available on EK metal from DXB to non LHR destinations in Europe. How easy would it be to say lets combine a ASA and an award flight with EK?

QF is a founding member of OW, so probably not.

In terms of a OW ticket, the only loss is the SIN-FRA service. There is, however, a reduction in capacity for SIN-LHR, but gaining DXB-SYD/MEL. And perhaps the loss of a F seat SIN-SYD/MEL.
 
Looking forward to the finer details but I think it is a smart strategy which offers new (and more convenient) options for AUS travelers. Was keen to experience a Dubai stopover next year so the timing could not have been better. Thanks also to Red Roo for clarifying where able.
 
So you must be very happy now simongr, think of all those extra SC's now - P1 renewal in the bag (as well as the extra points)

Yeah - happy about the potential "direct" flights to LCA rather than LHR but it does change the holiday dynamic a lot.

No extra SCs but certainly more points - but I guess more QF SCs if on QF flight number.

A lot of planning to do an NO I wont requal as P1 and I GUARANTEE that ;)
 
So as a general rule, are we expecting fares to continental European destinations to fall as a result of the tie up?

The QANTAS website is saying
"Note: If you're travelling to or from Europe after 30 March 2013 your flight details may change. Qantas or your travel agent will contact you with options if you're affected."

Should I just hold off on booking my flights to Europe (Rome) for June/July until changes have flown through the system?
 
Ok, so this thread is all about QF, and as a QF patron, im happy. So nice work QF good show.

But what do the Emirates pax think? their sweet and cosy easy availability seats ex DXB now taken up with filthy QF FF'ers? They may also find it harder for awards? Perhaps fares might go up for them as well? I would be interested to hear thoughts from that angle.

The other thing that interests me will be the Y+ pricing to all these great new destinations, given we can only Y+ part of the way.

Lastly Red Roo, whats the scoop on classic awards and ASA availability on these shiny new codeshares? Yes? No? Maybe? WP1 only? Sacrifice a goat on the third Wednesday of every month to get one?

Rail&Fly is possible, but not needed in such extend, since EK flies to many more cities in Germany. Doing MUC-MEL with one stop and earining SCs may sound good. On the other hand I need other options for my MUC-SIN travel (which I did via LHR to fly with the QF 380). I desperatly needed that for my 4 QF-Segments in the years without any travel to Australia.

This looks to me like a reduction in competition, so hard to see why there'd be any reduction in prices.
 
I notice in the press that as part of the alliance there will be no more code sharing with Cathay Pacific.

Excuse my ignorance, but if you fly Cathay as a Qantas FF member will you still earn points ( one world alliance) but not Status Credits ?

you earn points AND status credits just as normal. note: many discount fares on CX do not earn any mileage on QFFF. see the earning charts on qantas.com
 
AJ brings home the bacon...so to speak!

There maybe some devil in the detail but overall I would think the great majority of QFF's would be pleased to see Europe opening right up...one stop to most destinations!
 
From the east coast, the EK tie up can only be seen as a positive at this time because, unless you are going to FRA, you still have all of the existing QF options to Europe plus the new EK options. If you still want to fly QF/BA via LHR to Europe, you still can. Only your stopover city has changed.

From the west coast, it is not so clear. It will now be effectively impossible to fly QF to LHR and EK currently service PER with the 77W, fitted with the ultra comfortable (NOT!) 3-4-3 seating in Y. ASA reward flights and flight upgrades will also not be available for PER customers to LHR (unless QF allow these on EK code share flights). Getting an Op-Up from PER will now be impossible as a Skywards Gold will outrank a WP1 on EK services. From my Oneworld experience, top status partner program FF (OWE) never receive the same level of service as the top status FF from the OW airline that you are flying (eg AA will treat an AA Executive Platinum far better that a QF WP). I expect this to be the same on EK.

I would like to see some of the other changes/fine print not yet announced. PER will most likely lose one of the daily SIN services (however, with the recent changes, QF72 was made unusable anyway). Will a WP get advance proirity seat selection on EK services which is equal with the highest EK FF level? Will EK services (not using the QF codeshare) earn 1 QFFP/mile in all Y classes? Will all EK services earn QF SC? Will EK raise their prices to the existing QF levels due the the tie up (particularly in J/F)?
