Qantas Error Fare: First Class to Los Angeles from Sydney $4,299 return @qantas.com (several dates incuding xmas holidays)

I am guessing these fares were loaded with a ‘1’ missing at the front. $2191 instead of $12191?
Or not the F(A?) fare bucket. Look at a keyboard to see what other (discount economy) fare buckets near the F or A key. Any other fare buckets on sale?
As its Friday, maybe Monday before they start processing offers ~refunds as post 26 above. Obvious error fare.

I saw this minutes after the thread created and got a bit excited until I noted that it was for flights to USA. Yeah, nah.

TBH I'm not sure this is a mistake fare; I've flown a number of first class cabins and reckon $4.2K for QF SYD-LAX return is about what it is worth. :p

Probably less than 20 people will have bought them and most of them will be the sort of people Qantas can't afford to upset. With all the bad Qantas PR at the moment, I don't think QF can afford another media hate session. The seats likely would have been empty or filled with only staff/upgraded pax. Probably win-win to just let it be

I welcome you to AFF, but nothing in your post is logical or even remotely accurate, in my view.

True but it was 3am to 6am wasn’t it? That would have limited the damage.

It wasn't 3am to 6am everywhere.

Im deciding what to do ;)

Your recent Qantas booking

We are contacting you regarding a pricing error on Qantas.com for some flights between Australia and the USA. Due to a coding error, incorrect First Class fares were published for some flights by mistake. We have identified that your booking was affected by this error and are contacting you with an important update about your booking. We sincerely apologise for this error.

Next Steps

Instead of cancelling and refunding your booking, on this occasion, as a gesture of goodwill, Qantas will be rebooking you in the Business Class cabin on the same flight for the same price you have already paid. This represents a significant discount on our standard Business Class fares. We anticipate this will take us a few days to work through.

And it's an interesting decision too - how many of these fares would have been sold? 100? 200? Blowback would be isolated if they simply cancelled the fares. Maybe some green shoots.

What’s a normal J sale fare to LAX? $6k? They’re not losing too much on that metric and saving themselves some adverse publicity.
