Well, my Status extension has been applied - Just logged on and had all the banners.

The site is now promoting Platinum 1; the required numbers are somewhat higher than I'm used to seeing ... :p

My anniversary is in October and I noticed my account had the entry "STATUS EXTENDED BY QANTAS FOR 12 MONTHS" on 31 March...

As posted in the P1 thread, extensions for me and my gifted SG and WP have also come through now. The status activity page is a little misleading but it is caveated by the prominent banner. Wonder if they can update it or have to rely on the banners as a bandaid.

Those numbers aren't as scary as attaining LTP... only another 60,000 to go for me...

My status updated, but as I already had 1200+ SCs it was moot for me. Need to see what they’ll offer me in 2020-2021 else it’ll be gold the following year for me

My actual card on the App says expiry April 2021 but the landing page has the actual SCs earnt in last 11 months. Sadly I don't think I am going to be travelling anywhere to use it. Hubby earned the SC anyways so no benefit for him, but I hadn't so benefit for me. It's going to be next April when I can confidently look at travel. Better make April a big one!

The card on QF mobile app shows 2021 expiry, but the website shows 2020. I've also got the banners and the status extension entry in my points history page. Good work QF!

Slighhtly OT : What do we think about extending QF Wines Premium membership ? Thoughts?

If your P1 membership got extended, then there shouldn't be any reason why your premium wine membership would be too.

Well, I have only a little under 40K to go ... less scary but won't happen considering it's taken me over 21 years (since September 1998) to get this far ...

As a data point for how the US majors are handling this - they are being super generous. UA has just followed DL in not only extending status by a year, but also applying currently earned points through as well *AND* halving the earning requirements both this year and having lower requirements next year to reflect a potential / probable slow return to business travel. Now unlike VA and QF who have rolling status systems, the yanks use a set year date, but still these policies are VERY generous to me.

I don't expect the aussie programs to match or come close mind you, but then again I also thought P1 wouldn't be extended - so I have a track record for being wrong :)

At any rate, here's some info for interest:

I suspect the Aussie version of halving the requirements would simply be to do some DSC promos when it's considered safe to start flying again.

I received my status extension now, Dec 2020 extended to Dec 2021. So seems like they're working through the membership, with later expiry months processed further on , as you'd expect.

and what they said they would do
  • between March and June 2020, it will be automatically extended by 27 March 2020; and
  • between July 2020 and February 2021, it will be automatically extended by 9 April 2020.

My membership year ends in July.
I had already qualified for Platinum July 2020-2021 from travel in Oct/Nov/Dec 2019.
This morning I got the email saying I'd been extended to July 2021. Shouldn't it have been extended to July 2022?

No, as per the Qantas FAQs:

What happens if I've already retained my status, will it still be extended by 12 months?
No. If you’ve already retained your status then you will automatically enjoy your current benefits for the rest of your Membership Year for another 12 months. Status extension will not apply.

FWIW I'm in the same set of circumstances as you are and also received the same, meaningless email this morning.
