Isn’t that just what Qantas has done? Or is the extension only for those who receive an email? I didn’t even consider it might be targeted. Or are you referring to those who have already requalified?Well then extend everyone’s renewal by 12 months.
I think it was the emoji you used not the thank you part.... Cray Cray indeed Maxa "thank you" is not gloating.... gee whiz things have gone cray cray
The extension is only for those who would not have otherwise requalified. Members who have already requalified receive no further extension.Isn’t that just what Qantas has done? Or is the extension only for those who receive an email? I didn’t even consider it might be targeted.
I'm struggling a bit here, you have re-qualified for WP and you get nothing while others are gloating?? uumm i read that people are thankful, not gloating. I think perhaps your priorities are bit skewed at the moment. Maybe we should be concentrating on all the other issues facing us not why didn't I get something. Perhaps when you spent your own money to re-qualify you actually had a trip somewhere which you enjoyed and the SCs were a nice extra so you did get something.Sorry? Having paid my own money to requalify WP and I get nothing from this while others gloating they get another year WP sitting on Zero SCs....and I should count myself lucky?
Yes me too although only with WP status. I was initially very excited but now I feel less so for all the reasons you list. My date is 31 March. I currently have 1210 SC, so requal in my own right. There is no real flying for the first 6 months of my year, because of current cancellations and that means I will only get 6 months to requal.I really do appreciate the gesture, and I know given the challenges airlines, and indeed the whole world is facing, this will sound incredibly selfish, but here goes anyway.
Unfortunately, this won't be of any use to me, as I've already retained P1 until May 2021, so won't qualify for the status extension. Given the COVID-19 situation is expected to last at least six months, it means I'll get maybe six or seven decent months of use of the benefits I've actually earned, and then I'll likely no longer be P1, as I won't have returned to adequate flying to retain for 2022.
I know this is a completely self-centered view, but it's a scenario I'm sure many of us are facing. Just want to put it out there for discussion!
Hopefully they consider adjusting on a rolling basis depending on how long this situation goes on. Having said that, they may not be in a position to if it really drags.
Yes me too. And I know it seems petty in the circumstances, but that is my situation and feeling as well. Still, they have done the right thing generally here, just a pity about the details. So for those of us resetting at the end of the month who’ve already requalified, looks like we are the worst off - no benefit and we’ll have 6 months or more of our next year out of action with no flights.
There was always going to be winners or losers. Or at least winners and non-winners.
@justinbrett, can you please tell me how you can see that your profile was at Mar 21? Mine just shows 1210 SC, next goal WP you need 2390 more SC and after trying a few different options, I can't seem to see that detail. My reset date is also 31 March, so I am in the same situation as you, I think. So thinking aloud... my profile was already at Mar 21.
Wording of the email says "To give you one less thing to worry about right now, your Qantas Frequent Flyer Platinum status will automatically be extended for 12 months. The extension will be actioned in two phases - if your membership year ends". There's no Asterix, caveat, terms & conditions etc. Just a link to a Q&A.
I think I should hold them to the words of the email.
He is saying he has already qualified for his next membership year. Already has 1200SC now, so has qualified to retain WP for another 12 months to end of March 2021.@justinbrett, can you please tell me how you can see that your profile was at Mar 21? I'm taking screenshots of everything I can find so as to strengthen my case as I know I will need help to requal for 2022 given no flying until at least end of September this year. My clients have even clamped down on domestic, let alone international. And I booked my next holiday in Jan 2021 as a classic reward after getting stung in the great points devaluation enhancement last year - decided to use the points rather than hoard them for a bigger trip.

Thanks @ Portpower, I got that. I am in the exact same position, but I cannot find anywhere on my profile where it says that I am already requal until March 2021. I was looking on my computer. But your tip about the digital membership card was the thing I was after, so thank you very much for patient explanation. He is saying he has already qualified for his next membership year. Already has 1200SC now, so has qualified to retain WP for another 12 months to end of March 2021.
(Usually we receive an email at the time of requalifying and the QFF digital membership card is updated.)
I also would have preferred the Virgin approach, especially if it adds to the Life Time counter.
My membership renews the end of March, and I already requalified, so I get zero benefits according to this table Qantas Frequent Flyer Status Extension, and I won't be able to start accumulating SC in April, obviously... I hope Qantas will continue rolling this program on a monthly basis, Maybe I will get Plat till March 2022?
Yes sorry I should have said 2390 SC for P1 not WP.It sounded like you were Gold and needing the extra SC to make WP. Glad I could help. I requalified well before Feb 29th but all my flights for this year are disappearing fast. I welcome the 12 month extension.
Why?I haven't received the email.....guess I'm in the losers club!
