Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

Lots of frequent flyers were (still are) very destination specific, usually tied to their jobs. Ie people that flew to HKG once a month for business wont suddenly start flying to LAX just because its open.

Exactly. I previously travelled regularly to HKG and NZ. NZ has been a no-go-zone for a while and still unavailable for most people. HKG has been a no-go-zone for ages, assuming anyone still wants to go with the changed political situation. Being able to travel to the USA or UK does not make any difference to me maintaining my WP.

So extend July to Oct as they have not had a full 12 months to travel, whereas later anniversaies will have.
Not sure I agree with that.

I have a December anniversary and should have earned around 220 SCs already this year. Unfortunately, QF have cancelled ALL my flights so far and I am still on zero for this year.

Has anyone had their Feb SC roll over yet? My status end date was Jan 31st, I made a flight booking for travel in March. I received the status extension correctly however I have not yet received the SC roll over. The website says it should be processed early Feb, which I'd say we are well into Feb now.

Did I miss something? Or has QF just not processed it yet?

Just checking - SCs on AA (or other oneworld) should count towards the rollover right? (not the initially qualifying booking, just the total of SCs to be rolled over)

Just called QF to see if they could roll over the 100 SCs I earned last year flying QF as part of a status match. Was told that since I was participating in a status match at the time, I wouldn't qualify for any status support (including the rollover) but to check the site should there be additional status support landing in the coming months. On the positive side the call only lasted 10 minutes, not the many hours I hear people report having to wait on hold.

As it presently stands I'll get to 470 status credits in early September with my status year ending at the end of November. Guess I'll need to grab a double status credit flight when that lands.

interestingly, I got extended until Dec 2022 and rolled over 117 SCs (I did 1 trip to extend my status)
Hubby got downgraded to Silver even though he did 2 trips with QF (was gold). His membership month is in Jan. Worthwhile calling to see the differences around this?

Yes, do call. Having flown the qualifying flight, he should have retained gold.

Double check your husband's booking creation dates - were they made after 11 August 2021? I believe they need to be brand new PNRs rather than an existing PNR with changes applied.

yep one was the one we both flew in. I didn't fly anytime after that. Then he had a work trip post 11 August so in theory he should have qualified but will give them a call :)

December 2021 and January 2022 were covered by two different status support iterations.

December required a booking creation date between 23 November 2020 and before the member’s current status end date of between 31 March and 31 December 2021.

January required a booking creation date between 11 August 2021 and before the member’s current status end date of between 31 January and 30 June 2022.

You should be right. I rolled over a bunch of SCs earned on QR flights last year.

cheers skip

I feel like such a newb these days, but my status year ends Feb (error showing 27th not 28th) and I booked with QF on the 9th Feb and flew on the 16/17 Feb. I also booked another couple flights on the 5th Feb for April.

Per my reading of the status extensions, I should have had my membership extended to Feb 2023 by now, but it hasn’t changed.

Are others encountering this or am I going to drop to Gold and need to give them a call in March? I am planning to fly in March and don’t really like the prospect that I won’t have J lounge access because they’re not fast enough.

Am I reading the extension offer correctly?

check your digital card on 1 March.

it has been normal for status to not show as extended prior to the actual rollover.

My status also ends 28/2 and I'm already showing 2023 expiry - not sure whether due to the extension or SCs though (I earned over the normal requal threshold anyway).

I think that would be due to meeting the normal requalification threshold.

That makes sense, but only happened recently (coinciding with when the SCs shown in my app started going haywire). I've been >1,200 for months now.

Yes, I’m only showing 2022, but I also only earned 1039 SC this membership year. There is a small discrepancy where the login screen shows my total SC at 1110 that I’m not totally across… ie where 71SC have come from or gone missing to.

I figured I may have to wait until then. Glad to hear it’s normal… I just didn’t want to get an email saying something along the lines of, we’ve granted you a free year, when I want to save that for a time I really have no hope of renewing my status, not when I was meant to get it anyway. IYKWIM.

Eventually booked a one way flight on Qantas pass to trigger status re-qualification After Feb 28.

await with bated breath that it happens. Report back once done so

In the case of Qantas, they normally begin assessing 'normal' renewals about a month out from your renewal date. So, if you've got 1,200 already, they would have processed that extension sometime since the beginning of February.
