Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

Maybe Qantas needed a footnote explaining what they meant by bonus in this context :)
I'm pretty sure there was a footnote early on when these rollovers were initially announced, but not sure whether the wording changed in subsequent announcements.

Is anything QF do clear?

Too many enhancements.
Exactly.

So its good to hear that DSC (in my mind, unexpectedly) gets rolled over...and if others don't later - that's how the cookie crumbles.

No different here either. I've got a VisualPing running on the page and it hasn't detected changes either

Unfortunately 😔

With a 31 July 22 anniversary date (missed out by 1 mth on the further 1 yr extension…) and now 7 mths into my current membership year there’s been nothing hinted or offered to overcome the bulk of those seven months in lockdown or under extreme travel restrictions…. It will be near on impossible to retain WP. Fortunately, I have LTG to fall back on but I imagine many don’t and those extra SCs to re-attain a higher level again can be hard.

First world problems.

<Rant Over>

mid-February when there’s still close to 6 months to go even for July expiries and even longer for later expiries is still probably too soon to announce any further status extension, if they are going to do so. They would prefer people do the full flying to retain than to give it to them for free.

End of this month Velocity either needs to stick to its current timeline, or make another change. I don't know for sure, but if Qantas were going to do something, I'd expect it around the same time!

Aug expiry, plus locked away in WA so looks like bye bye QF platinum, hello BA SQ, AY EK... ( a status match before Aug would be perfect) and Im out... Already QF LTG, but unless QF place some value on my 30+ years of loyalty, cant see any reasons to stay and looking at current QF soft/hard product, frankly cant see QF doing anything remotely innovative going forward to warrant hanging around.

Well the LTG *is* placing (some) value on 30+ years of loyalty.

I know what you mean of course.. and I continue to say what I have been saying for months. There will be another extension and to not panic.

do agree about the product comments mind you not to mention the phone mess.

I'm a July anniversary and its getting tough, I have already booked my big trips for the year, I was hoping they'd announce an extension by end of Feb, as the only travel I have left to book is Christmas and things are selling out.

Rather than do 6 month blocks (and lets face it any one with a Dec anniversary will have been able to travel for a full year) I wish they would announce month by month.

Thanks for your valuable posts Richard.
It's very good hearing understanding coming from someone experienced and higher tier.

I agree the 2H 2022 expiry status holders will get assistance / extension in some form.
All in good time.

oh I fully understand where you're (and everyone else) is coming from. it is frustrating not knowing

but it also then provides opportunities to potentially look elsewhere. Maybe, with christmas and other plans in the works, treat it as if QF won't do an extension and choose based on that. That way if they do extend it's a bonus cherry on top? If they don't, your plan to fly say another airline or whatever is not affected?

Of course I understand that choices would be influenced by things like status for a Gold or Plat - eg: book QR to use OW status benefits OR say go with SQ or something else? I can absolutely see that issue.

I think month by month would be worse in a way. QF really shot themselves in the foot here with the six monthly thing - but they obviously did it not knowing that Omicron would come and cause so much havoc. I mean I know of no other loyalty program that has split things in such a way (though am happy to be given an example).

though this is another reason why I think theywill do a blanket six month extension to bring things back into line (as much as possible) to be fair. QF have been generous so far and it would go against the grain imo to act otherwise at this point.

but anyway just my view and they will do whatever they will do. Perhaps best to play assuming the status quo rather than wait on something that may not be confirmed for weeks yet (if at all) as a deciding factor (or at least potentially go with the most flexible option that makes sense to change if need be).

good luck with whatever choices you make.

Maybe they'll do a 3 month extension for Jul-Sep members.

ugh even more messy in my book and just piss off oct-dec folks.

We thought they'd learned after the March 2020 issue.

well come on QFF.. just put everyone out of their misery and do it.. so people can book and give you money, then return them to misery having to call for assistance.....

Yes fair point. I think the real issue is the lack of flair and innovation. QF has traded well on its safety and "home" branding, but really the soft product has been declining for years despite many "enhancements" and generally cant match ( and arguably doesnt try) other ME and asian premium players in terms of customer service and overall value - of course just my view based on my experience and Covid has changed everything.
To me QF is like a pair of old shoes which cost a lot to buy and which you have continued to spend money on maintaining cos they fit and are comfortable, despite being drab and having slightly uneven heels which cause you to wobble a bit when you walk... and then you see those new shiny shoes in the shop that are just as comfortable if not more, and cost 2/3 the cost... and come with a free shoe bag!
