Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

For domestic it can make sense to do a different booking for each direction. This could help if your plans are to travel domestically.

Hmmm ...Today I made a new booking for a flight a few days after my 31 October anniversary, ticketed 10:45am AEDST.

Should I have waited half an hour?

I think so. If you don’t make another booking and if status isn’t extended you should be able to contact QF to try to get it fixed.

HNL would count, but keep in mind if you are in the JUL-DEC 2022 group, anything booked before today won't count toward making you eligible.
HNL was booked back in October 2021 for travel in late May 2022 so that puts me out of contention for the status extension. I'm guessing I'll still get the status credit roll over though?

As for the status credit extension, I'll just book a QF flight sometime between now and end of November (probably a regional NSW flight) to make me qualify for the extension.

Yeah, it was a lonesome transpac U class which tends to disappear soon after Midnight UTC after the bots do their trawling.

It was ex USA so needed APIS before it would be ticketed - In retrospect I could have waited in relative safety.

The requirements to get the rollover are the same as the extension - you need to make a new booking.

What flights are eligible to qualify me for the Status Credit rollover?
To be eligible for the Status Credit rollover, you need to book, pay and have the ticket issued on at least one of the following:

  • Any Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number, or
  • Any Qantas Points earning Jetstar international booking with a JQ flight number including Jetstar flights within New Zealand (JQ), Jetstar Japan (GK) and Jetstar Asia (3K) flights. Jetstar domestic flights within Australia are ineligible.
The booking creation date must be on or after 28 February 2022 and before the member’s current status end date of between 31 July and 31 December 2022. The flight must be booked to travel before 31 December 2022.

Can anyone please remind me regarding the last status extension experience - did those with PC+ get an additional 100 SC rollover on top of their status tier rollover? (assuming they had accrued that many SCs)

Thank you all! And SCs will rollover? I have 110 credits that seem to have “rolled over” on May 1 2021 (don’t know why only 110 rolled over but there you go) - will these reroll over? And if I fly on oneworld between now and end April I assume those SCs will rollover too?
No and yes.

Prior status support/rollovers will not rollover. Travel on oneworld that earns SC's should rollover.

Which Status Credits count towards the rollover?
Status Credits earned through flying or with our partners on the ground will count towards the rollover. Status Credits provided by Qantas as a bonus, support or gift will not count towards the rollover.

A couple of points I find interesting.

First, as I understand it, this extension (and maybe the last one, I've lost track) allows members who already rolled over up to 40% of their SCs into this membership year now get to roll over those very same SCs once again. A rolling status credit gathers no moss. I see RichardMEL has a different take on this but I seem to recall that language being there last time and I thought status support SCs did roll over all the same.

Second, the email that came from Olivia Wirth could prove problematic. For example:

All you need to do is book a Qantas operated flight (with a QF flight number) between today and the end of your membership year on 30 September 2022 for travel any time before 31 December 2022.^

Happy to be corrected but the way I read this, a person with a 30 September expiry actually has until 31 December to have their status extended.

Disagree. prior status support is not eligible. Would be nice huh?

No. Not to my reading of the T&C.

You need to book the flight by 30 September for TRAVEL by 31 Dec.

If you booked on 3 October it is not eligible (and status would already have been extended or not per the promotion)

Wirth's email says, for example book by the end of your membership year for travel by 31 December. So as long as you book, it would seem you may not actually have to fly.

Status Extension - members with a status end date between January - June 2022 UPDATED

Who is eligible for the Status Extension?
The flight must be booked to travel before 31 December

What flight do I need to book to be eligible for Status Extension?
The booking creation date must be made on or after 11 August 2021 and before the member’s current status end date of between 31 January and 31 December 2022. The flight must be booked to travel before 30 June 2022.

this for status end dates to 30 June and not Dec and travel not by 30 June but by 31 Dec?

What is interesting about this status extension offer is all you need to do is make a Classic Rewards booking (which earns 0 status credits) on a QF operated flight and you'll get your status renewed:

Eligible bookings can be paid with cash, Qantas TravelPass, Qantas Flight Credit, Qantas Gift cards or with Qantas Points (via a Classic Flight Reward or Points Plus Pay). Bookings can be made directly with Qantas or through a third party such as your preferred travel agent.

Some of us have cash sitting in their bank (completely tax-fee to QF as they don’t need recognise revenue until day of the flight) to fund the fare. A cheapie fare $109 did the trick

theres some $6 billion

Why does't that surprise me, QF T's&C's seem to be always poorly worded, contradictory etc and over the years it seems like ground hog day as the posts about this be it status extensions, DSCs or other offers bubble to the surface across multiple threads. We often discuss the work experience kids running ITS, it seems like the work experience kids have also infiltrated marketing and corporate communications ;):p

The last few status support offers have been the same.

Yes, that's consistent with the last few rounds.

Those terms have now been superseded by the the new status extension for July-Dec 2022 flyers. So anyone with an anniversary date up to June will still need to have booked their flight before their anniversary date. If a November anniversary flyer has also booked and/or flown, done deal! No need to book and fly again.

SCs rolled over on your previous anniversary will not roll over again. Bonus or support SC are not included in the total earned for the 40% new rollover bonus. The only ones I am not sure are excluded are the 100SC from Points Club. They are not mentioned in the example.
