Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

Sorry, not arguing with you, only the 'logic' of what's been written. :)

If a Plat had 100 eligible SCs, Qantas would roll over all 100, as its less than the maximum.

If a Plat had 600 eligible SCs, Qantas would roll over 480, as that's the capped amount of 40% of the total to retain that tier.

If Plat had 1000 eligible SCs, Qantas would still roll over 480, as that's the capped amount of 40% etc.

I don't see how 500 can come into it, unless its an error. If that's the true maximum, then the wording should be "For Plats, we'll roll over 40% of eligable SCs you've earned, up to a maximum of 500SCs". But we'll see; QF has been pretty generous, so not complaining about them - only their copywriter.
I guess it's a matter of our two minds reading and interpreting differently. I read " from minimum of 40% up to a cap of 500". So if my SC balance is 1500, I won't received 40% (600SC) as that is over the capped amount. I will only receive the maximum capped amount of 500SC.

Anyway, status is renewed and there is some rollover of Status Credits. Bewdy mate!

I don't think the status credit rollover table is incorrect. It's not exactly 40%, but the maximum rollover amounts are *at least* 40% of the usual renewal targets in all cases and AFAIK the amounts in the table are what have actually been crediting.

I copied and pasted this from the link that Mattg posted at the beginning of the thread, didnt notice the date, just the month. I also rang Qantas and the person who answered the phone wasnt even aware of the update, so now I am completely confused.;)
It is confusing @auspal!

Go to this link on the Qantas page

Then scroll down until you see this:

Then drop down all the details that relate to your membership year end date and read that. You will probably still be confused! It's a bit of a mess. No real urgency right now, so maybe just let things settle a bit.

So Qantas are saying they will roll over status credits 'earned this year' (up to the maximum). I'm assuming this includes the status credits they have already rolled over from the previous status extension?

My year ends 31 January 22 and have retained WP until 31 January 2023 (Status Credit Boost 600 + Flying 740). My Status Credit Rollover seems to be 500. Provided I book a flight between 11 August 2021 and before 31 January 2022 for travel before 30 June 2022. Also confused about 40% & 500SC but hey who knows what will happen by 2023.

Were the previous ones 'rolled over' or gifted? I thought the latter and if so, then I'd think no - only the SCs you've earned on the current year.

Hoping a further rollover is not needed for those of us with an expiry in the second half of next year, but we’ll see.

Ah, I think I've worked it out, as you have. The "at least 40%" applies when you consider all membership tiers. At Silver, 250 for retain, 40% is 100, per the table. Gold is 600 for retain and the max is 250, or 41.6%. Plat retain 1200, max of 500 or 41.6%. Plat1 retain 3,600, max 1800 or 50%.

On that basis, the table is plainly wrong for Plats - should be a maximm of about 550 or 46% :)

When you say 'been crediting' - has this table been applied before?

Urgh ... I barely even care anymore ... :( Gonna be so long before we can travel properly anyway. Could drop me back to NB and I'll worry about ramping up again in 2025 or whenever ....

It's the same table as is being used for people that have memberships expiring through to Dec 31 this year.

I think most of mine would be the 'rolled over' status credits earned in the previous year... EG: I have 272 status credits in my current status year, all earned and rolled over from flying and shopping in my previous status year (rather than the 600 I was 'gifted' last status year). Plus 100 points club credits.

Ugh - confusing. Be interesting to see what Qantas end up doing... would think it would be pretty hard to differentiate where status credits originally came from at this point...

My two shekels..

Well you never can please everyone all the time can you? Seems clear what QF is trying to do.

This latest offer doesn't affect my current situation as I'm Aug 21 (but have booked/flown flights to go to next year anyway) and I'm not worrying about it or upset about the latest promo. To me essentially QF is compensating the first half of the year folks for the fact there's been bugger all travel..

The current situation will last for some time yet, and I think we'll see QF just update this for "the other half" in due course.

As some others have posted with bugger all flying/ability to fly does it really matter that much? Yes to some obviously. but for me personally I'm not worrying too much about it. As in the past I'm confident this isn't it for status support and we'll just see where things end up.

I just would like to actually be able to take one of the fair number of trips I've booked and already had to or will have to reschedule or cancel.. that would be nice :D

This is awesome. Especially as someone based outside of Australia this is great.

I did previously have my address set to inside Australia, so I just changed it to where I live now. Hopefully that’ll qualify me for the extension.

Has anyone got an email yet like was sent out in the last round? I’m hoping that‘ll tell me if I qualify as being outside Australia.

I had been thinking before COVID that I might let my SG drop back to PS then push for WP again so any extension keeping some lounge access helps me put off needing to make a decision to retain the hard way or push for higher status. The main things I want in higher status anyway relate to international travel with the exception of domestic arrivals access and short phone wait times if I need to call QF.

There is no email. There is a news release and it is also available to read when you log into your account and look under the news tab. The rollover is activated upon booking the flight. However the article quite clearly states this is only for Australian and New Zealand members. Overseas member are being given a 12 month extension outright, which is wonderful for you.

I don’t think it is confusing, but certainly QFF will know when SCs were earned. Rolled over from last year are not “earned“ this year. Just look at your activity list to see how many SC you have actually earned.

Im also a July 2022 expiry and have a little conundrum. As my membership year just reset, as i just qualified for a loyalty bonus, 50scs or 8k points. Have till the end of October to choose.
If i know theres going to be a status extension for me, i'll take the points.

This is good news from Qantas for so many. I have earned P1 by flying this year and will have it till December 2022, I am hoping that they extend this offer which will see me at P1 if they do till December 2023.

Qantas will never be able to please all of us but at least they are trying.
