Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

I hope someone from Virgin is reading this thread
The other travel site is reporting that VA are considering into 2023 and possibly 2024, they really have no choice given QF's play. Best I can hope for is for VA to raise the stakes and push out for a longer period and then see if QF matches.

This is good news from Qantas for so many. I have earned P1 by flying this year and will have it till December 2022, I am hoping that they extend this offer which will see me at P1 if they do till December 2023.

Wait, what?! How did you manage to earn Platinum One by flying this year? That is rather impressive. 😮😷

WA FIFOs have been operating pretty much uninterrupted, so wouldn't be surprised if they've managed to maintain status through flying.

It says you can use a flight credit to book your flight to be eligible for status extension, but then states booking creation date must be after 11 August 2021. But don't flight credits keep the same PNR and therefore the same booking creation date? Or is there a difference between booking creation date and PNR creation date?

Your are correct about the PNR and create date. There have been reports in the old DSC threads that some have argued their case with QF to get the DSCs using an existing voucher. My take on this is QF would likely honour the extension but it will not be automatic and may result in a few calls to get sorted.

Definitely best to make a brand new booking. Two domestic one way flights are priced the same way as return so you could use the new booking for a one way flight and a voucher for the other direction.

I have a February 28 anniversary and have already earned more than enough SC to renew next year. So its great news that these SC will roll over to the following year. Thank you Qantas. Now for the official email to arrive!
Not all will rollover I'm afraid - there are limits I believe.

My status year ends 31 March 2022.
I already made a couple of bookings for May / June 2022, but because I made them before 11 August they don't qualify.
Does Qantas want me to cancel and remake those bookings?

While this is a good initiative hopefully it is extended.

As a P1 not based in Australia I could (just) achieve 3600 SCs as long as no major lockdown in NZ. But impossible to get the 2700 SCs on QF at the moment and not looking feasible until we'll into next year.

Just today our PM said changes to borders will only be considered from Q1 of 2022, so member year will likely be at least half over before can get QF SCs.

Well, the Kiwi PM probably has a handle on this. QF is offering another extension, so I guess that we wait and see where this takes us.

Well, this is satisfactory, However, oh dear. Another booking to make instead of using one of the umpteen flight credits from aborted bookings from earlier. With more expected yet.

Mrs Pineapple is pleased that her LTG status will be extended one year ;)

Cheers skip

Yes Id expect so. I got caught out last time using one as it was created before the date mentioned. When I saw my status drop last May I contacted them and they could see my good intentions. They said that if I took one more flight in the next month they would reinstate. So I booked a cheapie to ADL - MEL. Damn near got shut out because Victoria had its next covid situation the day I did it. But within the week status had been reinstated. I won't do that again.

Qantas has started to send out emails. I got mine just now...

Here are the T&Cs at the bottom of the email:

^Offer is available to Qantas Frequent Flyer members residing in Australia or New Zealand who hold Silver, Gold, Platinum or Platinum One status with a status end date between January 2022 and June 2022. In order to have your status extended, you need to book, pay and have the ticket issued on at least one Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number, or any Qantas Points earning Jetstar international booking with a JQ flight number including Jetstar flights within New Zealand (JQ), Jetstar Japan (GK) and Jetstar Asia (3K) flights, for travel any time up to and including 30 June 2022. Jetstar domestic flights within Australia are ineligible. Flights need to have been booked between 11 August 2021 and the end of your membership year. The 12 month status extension does not apply to members who retain their status in their own right or move up to a higher tier. Only Status Credits earned through flying and on the ground offers are eligible for the rollover. Status Credits earned from any Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward and any gifted Status Credits (including Status Credit Boost and Status Credit Support) are ineligible for the rollover. The number of Status Credits that can be rolled over is capped and varies by tier. The rollover cap will be based on the member’s status at the end of their membership year in 2022. Any changes to members' status and Status Credits balance will be processed at the end of their membership year in 2022 if they have completed the flight booking requirement.

*Status Credits provided by Qantas as a bonus, support or gift will not count towards the rollover.

Can anyone confirm if the solely Qantas numbered Alliance Airlines flown flights out of Darwin with the E190s count for this deal?
My flight last month counted to my four flights for renewal, so I am assuming so?

This extension is great, though not surprising. What's surprising to me is that it is announced quite early, and that's great as it let members that chase status re-adjust their travel plans depending of their goal. Personally, I'll travel a bit less as I have already almost maxed out my future SC rollover. Why did Qantas capped it at 40%? mystery to me.

Now, the fact that July and above are excluded is interesting, and open to interpretation. Mine is that Qantas is planning to reintroduce status-support + status-boost when exiting this crisis, but they can't know when yet, so they didn't decide if they should extend July and above yet. My 2 cents.
