Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

I flew a number of times in the last membership year, but, not after receiving my status.
FLying is one thing. the promo depending on booking a flight after 23rd November, 2020. Did you meet that criteria? if so they should have been rolled over.

However being granted Gold via the challenge seems a unique situation. It may be worth having a chat to QFF about it.

To clarify, yes I booked and flew after 23 November 2020. I will contact the service centre to follow it up (but might wait until the BP credits do/don't credit, so as to roll it all over at once).

I'm obsessing over this. Membership year ends April 30, 2022. I haven't booked the flight offer needed to achieve this extension because I just don't trust SA Govt yet.

I've just now booked an Award flight to UK departing mid May and returning Mid June. The flights out are all on CX. The return flights are a mix of CX from LHR into HK and Qantas from HK to Melbourne to Adelaide.

So it's after April 30, but before June 30, and an award flight but only part booked on Qantas. So this will qualify right?

I would just count the number of QF flights by your year end. If more than zero, then it will be good. May/June doesn’t sound good to me. 😕

Edited

I just have two but flown before the deal was announced. You know, back in the days when we could fly. I think that was May! I'll book a simple flight to, um, well, there isn't one currently except to Qld and um, that's looking risky too.

Opening for tourism this side of xmas pretty much means no chance of status extensions now for those of us with July anniversary, despite that us Sydneysiders havent even been able to fly regionally since their new ff year began.

Year end for Mr Lat34 is October. I recently booked cheapest reward flight I could find (one way Adelaide-Kangaroo Island) for later in November. Cancellation easier for points refund.

Could book the cheapest quick return trip to Whyalla/Lincoln/KI/MtG?

I agree with @Carrots KGC is easy and you will most likely need to book as 2 one ways to avoid MCT issue within the QF booking system. MCT will not be an issue as you get off the plane go back through security and you will most likely be back in the boarding area while PAX are still disembarking. These trip do count I put MrsM on the KI flight for this exact purpose. If QF run the offer to cover those with Jul-Dec rollover dates I will taking a trip to KGC.

Maybe.. Maybe not.

In the end it still means the vast majority of QF flyers will have lost months in their membership year to qualify - up to 5 or 6 for a July membership date (I am end Aug myself). Now if you're a Dec anniversary you're doing OK, but you'd hope QF would come up with something to help specially with borders still in flux - eg WA maybe never.. QLD mid Dec to Vic/NSW etc, Tas who knows.. SA who knows etc...

I'll roll with the punches no matter what but seems to me there is definitely an argument to be made for some StatusKeeper or support for folks with say Jul-Nov anniversaries. I also feel QF have been more than generous in the past to this point so hopefully will come to the party again.

Not so sure I would be so negative. I'd be inclined they will do something, but possibly not as generous as the offer for Jan-Jun folk.

I have booked ADL-KGC-ADL specifically to renew status. Had to book two one way flights due to MCT. Had to change dates due to QF cancelling flights and the operator even realised it was a status run and had no problems with what I was doing.

I've had a few chats with the QF VIP team who seem very positive about status extensions right through to the end of 2022. QF really want people to keep their status and in turn book more flights - they added several notes to my FF account about extending my status regardless of flights as they stuffed my travel pass and excluded the double SC offer due to IT glitch which couldn't be resolved.

Anyone with status issues should contact QF and have the chat (after they have got it off their chest here of course ;))

Just trying to make sure that I've got this assembled correctly in my head -

I'm QFF Gold, annual membership expires April 30 each year, I haven't yet taken any flights in my current membership year.

Am I correct in thinking that if I make a booking and fly then QF will extend my Gold membership from 30 April 2022 until 30 April 2023?

And they will then give me a gift of 300 SC's (50%) for my membership year ended April 30 2024?

Its damn confusing!

I always knew that there would be a good reason to go to Kangaroo Island. 😉
I found one too! Have now booked for late November and if business travel doesn't pick up have told partner he's off for a morning jaunt too! Thankyou to @Carrots for the idea and @Matt_01 for confirming.
