Yes but with a drop in points and an increase for J and F then it enforces it even harder.
You've got a lot of people who are the ones who save up all their points to go to Bali or Gold Coast. I think these are the people Qantas want more engaged and therefore spending more money with and on QF branded products. People in the know already spend and are engaged with QFF.

Probably mentioned but cards are going to show how many years member has held current status level.
Nice. Unfortunately just in time for my status to probably drop at the end of this membership year so my number of years of holding the status level would be zero.

From the AFR this morning:

Qantas will free up more "redemption seats" on its most in-demand international routes – including to London, New York and Singapore – during popular travel periods for frequent flyers to book using points.

In the biggest shake-up in the 32-year history of its loyalty program, Qantas has promised to address the most pressing "pain points" experienced by its 12.6 million frequent flyers – most notably, now difficult it can be to use points to secure seats on the dates they want to fly, such as during school holidays.

In a win for its 12.6 million loyalty card holders, Qantas has promised to make it easier to book a seat using points redemption on popular international routes such as Australia to London or New York. "We will be significantly boosting the availability of seats for frequent flyers to book, particularly on international flights: that's the No. 1 thing our members want," a Qantas source told The Australian Financial Review on Wednesday. "They save their points and look forward to taking their dream holiday to Europe or the United States or wherever – only to find it can be hard to get a seat on points.

"So there will be a big increase in availability of seats on those popular routes."

I'm not impressed with the utility of Qantas points currently. Extremely difficult to redeem compared to other airlines. It is one of the worst programs out there. The actual customer experience with Qantas is also a mix bag.

With this announcement of an announcement and the fact Qantas made record profits recently, it is better be an overall positive for existing customers.

I just hope they make it easier through staffing levels to get through to the call centre to add more flights to OWA bookings :)

Asking too much?

All premium cabin fuel fines for international will be reduced, not just Y. Effective 18 September 2019.

So consistent with the date that new points levels will apply? 18th September would be the three months, correct? This would be to avoid a rush on current points level redemptions at lower co-pays.

Also, looking online this morning, a Y classic award BNE to LAX is now 41,900 points and $60YQ. Don't know what the YQ was, but the points was 45k.

Got the popcorn in the microwave and ready to press start. Some interesting insights from @madrooster.

Now feeling good about burning all my points for upgrades BNE/MEL/PER and ADL/BNE in the last 2 weeks. These trips were also DSC and getting me to within 1K of LTG. I'm not sure whether I'll continue to chase LTP, it'll all depend on the number.
