Meh, just looked a bit more into it- coughpy cattle class seats that most of us don't want get reduced a bit while the only worthwhile redemptions in J or F as well as upgrades become more expensive. And Lifetime Platinum has such a high bar of entry that I personally do not expect to ever reach it. So meh meh meh, the usual Qantas "enhancement", nothing else
to better represent the true value of this premium experience
So if it took me 50,000 points to upgrade from Saver Y to J on HKG-SYD A380 last month and if my experience on that flight or that instance wasn't great
That's crazy - standard SYD-HKG J without upgrade is only 60,000!
Here:
The number of points required for Premium cabins and upgrades will be increasing from 18 September 2019 to better represent the true value of this premium experience6
In effect at 1.000 points = $8. You’re merely trading $ for points ....
Lifetime Gold means Oneworld Sapphire means lounge access. Don't see them taking that away. (That chart didn't include priority bags / boarding / security either).
Had I known 7 years ago that lifetime platinum was coming I would have flown QF exclusively instead of including VA, SQ, AA, CX into the mix.
As a result, I sit here with 29k status credits ... when I think I could be sitting at 53-57k.... okay so still a ways away
Exactly, who really wants to fly up the back anyway.Meh, just looked a bit more into it- coughpy cattle class seats that most of us don't want get reduced a bit while the only worthwhile redemptions in J or F as well as upgrades become more expensive ...

Although I find the changes announced today to be less discouraging, rather than encouraging …Overall the changes announced today are pretty encouraging in my eyes ..
Not now that they have seen how much better the competition is.The question for QF is “will lapsed loyalists return to the fold?”
They do say "recognising members who have had a lifetime of flying with us, with the imminent launch of Lifetime Platinum". I don't think they intend you to around long enough to enjoy the benefit. It seems a bit of an empty offer for anyone who might earn enough points, they will have had a lifetime of Platinum if not "Lifetime Platinum".Overall the changes announced today are pretty encouraging in my eyes.
With so much speculation that QF were about to revert to a purely revenue based status - it was pleasing to see this not introduced.
Whilst LTP will be immensely challenging for most of us to achieve, it’s pleasing that QF have at least introduced it.
I’m really intrigued with the “points club” - it’s pleasing to see QF finally reward those frequent flyers who earn a stack of points on the ground and now earn some recognition for it.
Of course the full details are yet to be revealed, but sounds promising nonetheless .
Does that mean it going to be pretty difficult for women? I thought AJ was all about equality.Watched a Foxtel doco on Concorde this week and one chap was heavly interviewed took several HUNDRED Concorde flights alone.
75K SC to real businessmen is pretty easy.
QF had a guy years back in CEO Executive recruitment etc, who used to fly a million paid miles a year all in F to Europe and USA. A round trip to Europe around weekly. A neighbour used to Fly to SFO and back each week for years on UA. 15,000 miles a week.
This kind of travel occurs. Many here do not believe it, but it does exist. And like these kind of guys, in paid pointy end long haul so SC add up rapidly.
