That's my feeling on it too. By raising the bar so high they might actually send a message to members that their loyalty really isn't required and members may switch before they even get to LTG. I know it personally hasn't made my choice any easier. I'm not thinking I'll ever get to 75k and don't want to try, really. At the same time, 35k through BA seems wishful thinking, but it'll still be easier to get to than the estimated 61k to go to LTP with QF.

Same feeling here.

I've already started to look into VA Plat for 2020 as all my trips for 2019 are booked in QF.

For me, personally, chasing LTP isn't lucrative. I'd be happy to be QF Plat or just get VA Plat each year

15% increase in premium awards isn’t bad, but I’d have liked them to reduce the qantas imposed carrier charges, like SQ did.

A bit disingenuous to say this is the first increase in 15 years... the points earn was significantly devalued under simpler and fairer which had the same effect as increasing award prices.

But will premium awards also see an increase in availability? Perhaps not with the 787’s tiny cabins.

SMH pseudo quoting Joyce:

"International economy flights booked through Qantas with points will require a slightly lower amount, with more expensive flights getting an increase - which Mr Joyce defended as the first in 15 years, and a reflection of improvements to service in that period. "

Looks like Joyce thinks small plates is an improvement.

A 10k point increase for a $75 reduction. Qantas top up points value these same point at $369...

The 10k increase is still reasonable and Qantas could have easily implemented it without reducing surcharges. The changes could have been much, much worse.

Gold includes lounge access. "Lifetime Gold" means Gold status for life. I don't see that changing here. At the very least, you'll get lounge access with oneworld because Gold is Sapphire which provides lounge access.

Is it just me or ?? SC earned is no longer shown ?

The calculator is also not available. Is there more to come?
