QF can't win on here.

It's obvious that the changes were to benefits the millions of everyday Australians with Bronze and Silver status. Judging by the news articles on News Corp and Fairfax they're mostly positive and its their leading headline.
You're right - we are the frequent flyer at the pointy end of the program and they are catering to the general population who barely travel. They are also catering to those point addicts (but generally with no status).

Overall seems like a fairly balanced set of changes TBH. Points increases aren't great but aren't too excessive. I wonder how this Points Club thing is going to look.

Anyway, time to plan a 280k while it's still 280k I guess...

Looks like I'll be LTP in 15-22 years...if QF is still around. I guess they calculated 20 years of P1. I know a few people at work who should hit LTP in the next 5-10 year. There are indeed a few people out there getting 5-6k SC every year with QF.

QF can't win on here.

Honestly - I'm actually happy about these changes. Here's my summary.

- Changes to premium cabin awards are reasonable (still good value) and we have 3 months notice anyway
- Savings on economy cabins are good
- Saving on carrier charges are good
- No goal post moving on LTS/LTG
- No changes to Platinum SC earn/retain
- No changes to partner SC earn rates
- Public DSC promos will continue (according to AusBT)
- Will reserve judgement on Points Club but seems like a reasonable idea to keep the shareholders happy

The best part: Qantas tend to go through these change cycles every 3 or so years - so we're unlikely to see any of the above change again for a while. Long may the status run continue.

I wouldn't call that a 'massive overhaul' and the reality is that it's not as bad as I might have expected.

In short it will now cost me 40,000 more points for a return trip to the US.

Yes I guess the best you can say about it is it could have been worse...

Well honestly that's.... boring

I mean they hype massive overhaul and all this shyte and really to me it's tweaks around the edges... the expected rises and falls in award prices.. a bit of sky high LTP to keep punters really trying.. (but honestly if you have enough to get to 75k SC's you wouldn't want to get near a plane again probably and I know there are members here who have more)...

but "massive overhaul"? typical QF - overpromise and underdeliver :p

I mean at first blush it seems not too horrible and that's great and all... just expected more.

ah well.

None, that's done by QF Loyalty. I'm sre they have a couple of Business Analysts crunching data...

hmm, well the Simpsons taught us that, when it comes to NASA, all this:
