Qantas First Class menus

Even pre Covid, ex-UK F meals were mostly J meals albeit with more fancy menu descriptions and one or two more starters(ie the steak sandwich). They did have the tasting menu for a while for the lunchtime departures to DXB which was a pleasant way to spend the afternoon.

I think the only reason to buy QF F is for the bed - v comfy and the flights are long enough to enjoy.

I'd say many people would think this is impressive.

Had this wine onboard and I’d say it’s adequate, definitely not impressive. I miss the grand cru Burgs.

QF1 last week: SYD-SIN. A particularly uninspiring flight altogether.

I’m no connoisseur, however the only useful purpose of the Champagne would have been to flush the toilet. Im not sure why the writer put a hyphen in the word exceptional….maybe they coughed as they read the description of this supposed 1st class drop
(or is it spelt exceptio- nal in French?)

Maybe my expectations were just too high after Qatar gave me 2004 Krug.

Best part of the meal was the cold cuts and artichoke hearts. Probably should have just ordered three plates of that and a VB.



Second best part was the affogato.

Couldn’t help myself and went and read the whole wine list… on top of exceptional with a hyphen, at least two other spelling/grammar mistakes. While a minor part of the whole experience, this lack of attention to detail doesn’t exactly exude premium or desirable.

Now we know why it’s called the “first wine list”. Must be the first wine list that the work experience kid has written (also, who else would say super interesting to describe a wine). They could’ve just used chat GPT. Or spellcheck.

You're right, there seem to be quite a few grammatical inconsistencies in the menu (and I'm certainly no expert). I reckon they probably got them supplied from the wineries and didn't get checked over by a copywriter, which would be lazy, considering they surely have at least one in their marketing team to check this sort of thing.

QF94 LAX-MEL
Late November flight.

The food was well cooked and tasted very nice. But as usual for QF F, the menu is fairly uninspiring. Surprisingly it offered nothing other than chocolate or crisps mid-flight (for a 15.5hr flight).

Was not offered any canapés. On the plus side, the champagne was not the Louise but the Piper-Heidsieck Rare.

Agree re the Duval-Leroy. Dreadful.
Unfortunately, that has been the offering (sacrificial?) on two of my recent F flights.

When I expressed surprise and then responded negatively when asked if I had enjoyed it, I was offered an alternative:
Duval-Leroy NV.

In any case, I don't see why if you were really peckish that a polite request to the FA for any of the dishes wouldn't be out of place. If they say no, then it was extraordinary, but why not try......

It is indeed possible to ask the FA if any dish is available - however I really think this should not be neccessary when flying in F. A generous menu that does not let you go hungry and offers a substantial snack available between the meals and clearly lists this as an option in the menu should really be standard for any F flight and especially for such a long one.

Yes. As I’ve said before, First is First. There shouldn’t be any nickel and diming or any inconvenience or anything reasonable the passenger should want, withheld.

And of course true dine-on-demand, which is standard amongst other carriers' business class. You usually have to give them 20 or 30 minutes notice of when you want to eat if it’s spontaneous or you can just tell them at the commencement of the flight when you’d like to have dinner etc.

The experience and pictures of the meals served by Muppet above, is just awful. It would be be pretty bad in business, but in First?

Thanks to those posting the QF F lounge menus; has anyone had experience with the Sydney F lounge doing special meals on request? My wife is celiac & vegan, so usually has to skip meals. Wondering if we give them enough notice they could rustle something up.

Will ask Qantas as well, but figured I'd get a quicker/real world response here.

Ah yep, I did ask - nothing available.
Even the option of having breakfast early was not accepted (other than the non cooked items, so cereal and fruit).

No. Because that would imply a concept of service. Something F flight attendants are not trained for lest it interferes with their magazine reading and gossiping, unlike F or even J on other airlines.

It would have been a poor choice if you did! EK, SA etc are proper F class. One wonders what QF board members and executives standards are if they put up with the poor QF F experience.
