Qantas First Lounge in Singapore

Tried the pork belly- it was one of the more disappointing "plates" I have had in a Qantas "First Lounge". Chewy rather than crispy skin ... other than the cabbage and mustard, lifeless. (I'm thinking I'll need to show them what I can do with belly pork using an airfryer ...)

Interesting MrLtL had that last week and it was delicious - and very crispy - yours does look like the crackle isn't at all.

Note the lounge open four hours before the first QF out of SIN, so Saturdays it is 3:30pm.
Should be 2:40p for QF72 6:40p to PER.

But that caught me out. I got to Changi around 2pm, used “early checkin” and did a wander around knowing that QF72 was 1 hr delayed before I even arrived so figured I’d have plenty of F time. I arrived at the lounge about 2:30p and it was closed! 🙀

While I was frantically trying to find the opening hours - yes “4 hrs before”, I noticed the doors open and I was in... Phew!

Alas, a cheeky visit to the QR lounge wasn’t going to work with it opening at 6pm and I was departing from the D gates….

EK and QR are right next to each other so very easy to do a direct comparison!
That was so handy. I had visited QF First for the crayfish laksa along with the coconut sago and mango dessert. As it got crowded up pretty quickly after 6.00pm, I headed down the other end of Terminal 1 to the QR lounge and that was a peaceful oasis.

I was the only guest there during my time there and the staff really waited on you hand and foot, not surprising.

I find that Qatar and Emirates lounges are a decent alternative whenever QF lounges get full. Never disappointed.

Next day ...

Had the Prawn Wontons ... excellent ... interesting how sambal finds its way into many regional dishes.

Rewind on the barra (even better😋) and the cheese.

Had a good talk with a couple of the staff, many have come back since being affected by the 2020 closure.

Got the same disappointing answer for my coughtail. Simple to make, got it many times in the past. No issuee in F SIN, yet.
Here’s hoping! Stopping through there in a few hours. But I want to sleep on the next flight so maybe not.

I assume they make Singapore Slings there. Might go for one of those.

So SIN Flounge doesn’t “do” Singapore Slings.
I thought they had some signature coughtail like that but TBH, I just went for bubbles…

Was there a new menu? Handy if you can post here…

They did - something blush. It was OK.

I was in a rush sorry, didn’t even look at the menu (just got the squid)

QF SIN F lounge menu

Drinks :
Tried the ”Island Getaway” coughtail - meh, wasn’t bad … won’t be ordering it again ..

Tried the “QF2” - was good and to my liking.

Tried Yerring Station PN with entree, Shaw+Smith with main and Voyager Estate Cane Cut Semellion 2018 with dessert.

Entree :
Tried the Buffalo Mozzarella with eggplant and sourdough - simply amazing. Went well with the Yerring Station PN.

Mains :
Tried the plant based spaghetti option - was good, well dressed with garlic and olive oil. Definitely needed spice. So I asked for a serve if fresh red chilli and tried it. Now, we are cooking! Lip smacking 🤩🌶

Dessert :
Tried the chocolate mousse with raspberry - was good. Nothing special, but a nice finish to the “chilli” main.

Another visit, Menu slightly different from previous.

I note the post seating hot towels have been replaced with packaged wipes.

Chicken wings were something I had not had before here, tasty, crisp and, in a good way, somewhat "earthy" ... yum!

Barramundi (not Humpty Doo) was delightful as always.

Love the wings. IMO much yummier than the squid 🤤🤤🤤
