"Connect with like-minded people. Browse the forums and be inspired by other members."

Isn't that AFF? :p

The last thing I'd want to do is connect with people like me!

I think there will be plenty of people with an interest in this, but it is not for me. Like you I want the NPPP back!

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

Heh, yes, I most definitely do not want to connect with people like me :D

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

I do like my Red wine, so just joined. The gift I'm being sent is 1 bottle of 2006 Wolf Blass Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon. Should be a nice drop.

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

Joined too, if not for just the wine as the cheapest I can find it online is $90 plus shipping, so $99 isn't too bad.

Alas the system coughped itself. Took it's money and returned an error and re-directed me to the registration page. epiQure staff are looking into it and will get back to me (apparently formal official launch isn't until next week anyway).

Let's see if it's worth renewing after a year that'll be the test:)

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

I actually think this is a good initiative by QF.

Have signed up (and got the free bottle of vino) and booked my tickets to launch event.

Have many AFF people signed up?

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

I thought about joining this morning BUT the more I look at the epiQure website, the less I think it's about food and the more it seems to be about wine. Which is fine for some. But I really enjoy good food, and I don't drink alcohol. So I think it might not really be for me. The extra point per dollar at QantasFF partner restaurants just doesn't seem worth $99.

At $390 per head (For MEL at least) I'll not be bothering. I can get a much nicer meal elsewhere for the same amount.

Some of the Champagnes are decently priced (if you're buying as a single for a special occasion, but they're all in cartons of 6), but when you call $1500 for 6 bottles decent pricing, you don't really need to care about money as much ;)

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

I joined on Monday - received the bottle of Wolf Blass yesterday.

If it wasn't for the wine I probably wouldn't have joined though, so they'd better have a similar benefit at renewal time :)

Haven't explored the site/events/etc in great detail yet.

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

Just as I was browing this thread, my invitation e-mail landed. Spooky .

The restaurant partners don't inspire me. Think I'll give it a miss.

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

I'm clearly not the audience for this either. I drink plenty of good wine but only in the $20-$50 range, couple of bottles a week. I just dont understand why I would pay $99 for a bottle of wine that I can get for $99 elsewhere. If its for the events then there are much better food/wine events available through various vineyards/restaurants directly.

I guess it could be useful if you don't get out to these kind of places and make contact with the kind of "no additional cost" clubs that are out there. Or else the kind of clientele they are after would add a zero after every bill I pay ;)

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

I have also received the email but I believe it was a mistake as I am not likely to join.

I am quite happy with normal food and don't need premium food or wine....

Only received the email yesterday. Guess I'm just not that important to Qantas.

I don't think it's worth it to me at this stage, but if they have some decent deals on cases of wine I may suggest it to my dad. I assume the 4 points per $ at restaurants is the same restaurants as the normal program? I've only ever claimed points at one restaurant and doubt I'll be doing so again in a while unless they add a whole load more.

I did the same. Like exploring the premium wines that QF serve though.

Agree.

Also this is a bit like a CitiFlyer flight, no diet coke available.

When did they stop carrying the miniature cans of diet coke on QF flights? I remember having a Diet Coke recently.

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

Slightly OT, but was at The Waiting Room, the new lobby bar at Crown Towers, the other day and happened to see NP himself (with the QF logo emblazoned on his outfit) walking in and around on his way to/from the kitchen, which I assume is shared with Rockpool.

Incidentally, both food (European in general, with a Spanish bias) and drink were mostly quite good, albeit quite small and overpriced.

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

I am toying with joining for the points but just can't find many other good reasons.

Wine prices are certainly not cheaper than locally .

The Qantas Partner Restaurants seem plentiful down south but there are only 6 in central Brisbane and that counts West End , the Valley and New Farm.

Anyone found any good justifications?

re: Qantas Frequent Flyer Launches Premium Food and Wine Community "epiQure"

I got my offer to join yesterday. The wine offer on joining has changed

You then receive 2 complimentary bottles of 1999 Petaluma Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot, valued at $130.

I received a follow up offer yesterday. It was still quoting:

Join today and receive a gift of fine wine valued at $130.
