Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

Hey SYD, do you know if that applies to purchasing the offset at a later date after making the booking? Cheers
It’s supposed to but there have been mixed results reported here in getting the leaf automatically. I’m assuming at post #872 above by @kangarooflyer88 was referring to the leaf appearing successfully after retrospective purchase of an offset.

I am also having trouble getting the leaf from offseting my flight. It has been a month I am chasing after qantas.
Is there a special phone number I can call instead of the call centre ?

Try the call centre - I had emailed and left feedback and got nothing for weeks - but within 3 days of calling, it was sorted for me.

Has anyone else had their progress disappear for the second year?

I had completed 3/5 leaves, and recently offset a flight to get my 4th, with just the quiz remaining.

Went to check and it shows as 100% completed, but only has the expiry from the first time I completed it?

Yep - I was 4/5 for the current membership year (which would have extended my Green tier to July 2024), and now it's only showing benefits up until July 2023.

Mine is now showing the green leaf for "Reduce your impact". I had not contacted Qantas regarding this one as I still have another 9 months to go. Just flight offset to go for me, which I expect will be done with a domestic FF classic award booking I expect to make during the membership year.

I got a hold of the wellbeing support for the 5th leaf last night and was able to choose a reward this morning - must just be an error somewhere.

MY wellbeing quiz appeared automagically, and it seems the same for many others based on posts. I noticed this in the last week or so, when getting flight details for my spreadsheet. I'd suggest someone has got fed up and just added the quiz for everyone.
My quiz leaf appeared shortly after I updated the wellbeing app.

It could be a bug, or it could be that SYD-ARM is operated by the DH3, DH4 and DH8 and you're booked in different types. The number of pax each type can carry (as a relative percentage) varies significantly.

I've got a similar oddity on an upcoming OWA. SYD-HND on a QF A330 supposedly generates 4778kg CO2, but LHR-SYD on the QF A380 is only 1981kg despite double the flying time, take offs and landings. Both are booked in J.

Back of the envelop:
A330 fuel burn 5600 kg/hr
A380 11500 kg/hr

QF A330-200 234-271 pax A330-300 297 pax say 265 pax average... since I don't know your aircraft type.
A380 485 pax
- qantas website
Flight time SYD-HND 9.75 hours SYD-LHR 23 hours

that gives SYD-HND 206 kg per pax and SYD-LHR 545 kg per pax.

But what this is missing in this calculation is allowance for luggage, class of service and freight. Freight might be a big item if they factor in ratio of pax weight:freight weight. Based on the carbon ratios between the flights, the fuel per pax on SYD-LHR would have to be 84 kg, so only 15% of total fuel consumption attributed to pax.

hmm

Me too. Was on 4/5 leaves for my second qualification waiting for the quiz to be fixed before I roll over on 1/11/23 but I’m now showing as 5/5 with Green Tier only till 31/10/23. Hope my four leaves haven’t decomposed! BTW, I’ve so far received exactly 0 offers of Green Tier special invitations! Maybe you have to also be WP to get those?

It does not appear to be WP related as I have been Green Tier pretty much since it came out and not received any specific "green" offers either.

Live those above, I also just had the quiz leaf show as completed last week yet not even attempted to click through on qualification this membership year.

I went through the call centre. The first time they told me I had to book another flight and offset it at time of purchase - which is useless as majority of my QF flights are for work.

After reading the program terms and conditions (and checking the various ads), I called back up to request they credit one of the flight offsets I'd made post-booking as per terms and conditions. Again got told that's not how it works.

I then had to be transfered to a manager who initially told me the same thing - then eventually agreed with me and organised the credit.

@serfty can probably also tell us the date that they changed form km to miles for the calculations. In fact, it may have even been Australian Airlines before the Qantas merger.
Just saw this.

September 1998 was when Status earning based on Tier Credits was introduced.

I think it was a year or two when points earn went from being based on Km to Miles. Before then, only full 'Y' earned 1 point per Km domestically, discount economy (even 'B') earned at a rate of .7 per Km.

Guessing I know what the answer will be, but just to confirm: Do they verify you live in the state you "offset your home and car" in for the purposes of Green Tier?

Thanks for this!

I googled the weight of Jet A, 1 litre = .8kg.

Booked a QFF Classic Reward flight today with carbon offer applied (141 points cost) so that should add my 5th green leaf for the year. Will again take the 10K points as I have no need for the status credits. Will have cost me less than 10K points to play the game, so a small net win.

My year reset overnight. I have made the four transactions needed to get my four leaves - when they arrive I will call up to get the quiz leaf. Just like last year, there's a moment of disappointment seeing the points balance drop following the charity donation - but I will feel better when the 10,000 points plop in.
