Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I think these Green Tier enhancement may mean I wont get any Green Tier SCs next year.

Year 1 - I first earned Green Tier in Apr 22 and claimed the 50SCs in FF year ending 31 Jul 22

Year 2 - I then requalified for Green Tier in Nov 22 (albeit with manual intervention re the quiz) and claimed the 50SCs in FF year ending 31 Jul 23. Noting that my Green Tier expiry is listed as 31 Jul 23.

Year 3 - So if I qualify again from July this year, but I cant redeem until July 2024 it means no Green tier for a whole year - that doesn't seem right and means I need to find 50 extra SCs to requalify WP. Surely if you have always claimed in year you should continue to be able to do so, Im not double dipping in the same frequent Flyer year.

I'm mainly interested in Green Tier to boost my LTSC tally. If it helps with attaining/retaining status in the current year that's a bonus.

Update on the sage of receiving my Green Tier benefits. For those just joining us from home:
  • I performed all qualifying activities to earn Green tier back on January 16, 2023, even receiving an email from QF congratulating me on earning the status
  • Several weeks pass with the QFF website showing that my Green Tier wasn't extended for next year
  • Call up QFF in March looking to get this sorted with the agent reaching out to the escalation team by email and being assured that I'd receive a call within a week
  • No call within a week arrives so I call back to enquire only to be told to be patient and hang tight because the team receives a high volume of emails
  • Decided to call back today to enquire what is going on. Rep looked at case, spoke with prior agent who basically said what they told me three months ago (we emailed them but haven't received a response yet). They decided to follow up and hopefully I'll get a response back soon.
Honestly this whole process is frustrating. If status credits from a QF flight I booked didn't credit I'd have them in a jiffy with one call. But for green tier where I had to spend considerable time and money to attain I get the run around. And for me earning that 50 status credits via the program is crucial since it'll get me that bit closer to earning World Platinum status with Qantas.

If I don't hear back from them by next week my next point of contact will be Uncle Alan and the escalations team.

Is this your 2nd (or 3rd) GT? and when is your status year anniversary rollover?

If you’re onto year 2 or higher, expect to be able select 50 SCs *after* status year rolls over. That’s the gist of the last few pages of comments. But others will be happy to hear otherwise.

This will now be my 2nd year on the Green Tier having initially qualified in September 2022 for year 1 (my QFF membership year ends on November 30). Perhaps I am missing something here but Green Tiers like other membership levels is tied to when you QFF membership year ends so this shouldn't be a factor.

It seems that they’ve aligned GT to FF year, similar to PC/PC+. So you get the subsequent benefits at the start of the member year if requalifying.

Or that’s my take on previous comments.

New attainers should still get benefits on attainment (I’d expect)?

Which means that those of us who earned GT and claimed the GT benefit in both year 1 and year 2 before this latest change will now get nothing in year 3, and have to wait til year 4.

So fo me will be 19 months between being able to claim GT SCs, so not actually annual.

A question. I qualified for Green Tier last year and took the points. I've almost qualified again for this membership year (Sustainability Quiz not showing on Wellbeing app, emailed over a month ago *sigh*). Will I not be entitled to the bonus points when I qualify?

Yes, but you might not get the option to chose that until the start of your new member year.

It means you cant count on using the SCs in the year you earn GT only the following year - such a main.

Is the rule regarding waiting for the end of the membership year now confirmed? I thought it was just a case of HUACA.

OK so my new membership year started beginning of May, and have completed activities since then. Will I have to wait until May 24 to collect bonus points?

It s not yet in the t&cs, so I guess this can be challenged. But looks like the call center are aplying it.

@Princess Fiona ’s post up thread (previous page) confirms (or is a data point) that benefits are automatically available after status year rollover.

yes, apparently.

yes, apparently.

So I am one easy green leaf away from reaching my first GT but also not far from reaching PC+. I already have over the 100SCs for this membership year which ends September.
Unless I can benefit from the SCs this member year (which I won't) and I will have to wait until my 2024-25 year to see the next GT reward I'm best holding off.
By the sounds of things if I reach GT as close to the end of my membership year as possible the 50SCs can be selected and applied to my 2023-24 year. Does this sound correct?
Then following from that will get GT reward selection automatically come Sept 2024

I can confirm per @SYD above that as a 2nd year-er, I reached 5 leaves some time back, had no option to select the reward and contacted QF and was also told that:

upon further checking you can allocate your Green tier status for your next membership year.

I didn't understand their reply at first, but it 100% aligns with everyone else's recent updates.

I can also confirm that 1st time GT you still get the reward choice as soon as you get the 5th leaf and the system confirms you’ve attained GT.

I fired off my donation yesterday and the system ticked over today. GT until 31 July 2024 and reward choice available until 30 Sep (I’ll be taking 50 SCs on or after 01 Aug).
