Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I recall you may have a loyalty bonus coming up? The 3 mth window to use might just fall over the line for the next member year? And provide a head start for maintaining true WP (only 1200 pa).
Per my spreadsheet I will be at 1455 status credits by the end of the program year with the loyalty bonus but without the Green Tier bonus. So not at all necessary, but look I want the insurance here. You are right that from a pure optimization technique, rolling it over to next year is best, but it's really important for me to ensure I earn the status since that means effectively 3 years of status without any effort (Platinum in year 1, Gold in year 2, Silver in year 3). And the fact of the matter is Platinum status is useless if you don't use it regularly so I plan on travelling enough next year that either I'll earn enough status credits from flying or I'll drop down to Gold and maintain that.
WP does not stand for World Platinum.
It’s his thing…. Once he retains WP for the first time, he may come around to the dark side.
I know what it stands for but I thought I'd provide a more family friendly way of describing the status. I also look forward to experiencing the world class service that only a World Platinum or Platinum 1 card holder have access to. No doubt that vision will become a pipe dream when I try using some of those benefits.

I was referring to the LB. If that’s been earned and taken then academic, but if it’s still coming, then yes, then probably take a GT now and then see when the LB bonus election date expires.

You might be pleasantly surprised - especially the first time when those frosted doors on the SYD T1 First Lounge open up for you.

Good point! As I'll be earning the loyalty bonus last (sometime in November), I should simply wait to see whether the 50 status credits are needed. If not, I can apply it next year. In any event, though, I sure hope to make full use of that Platinum status and therefore not have to worry about status credits and the like.

As someone who has visited several Polaris lounges (including their flagship lounge at Chicago), numerous Centurion lounges (LAX, SFO, DEN, SYD and MEL), various priority pass lounges, Lufthansa Senator and Air Canada Maple Leaf lounges to say nothing of Emirates and Etihad lounges, I set my expectations low. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I emailed frequent flyer and cc'ed olivia and within 24 hours an email came saying the 50 sc has been pushed to my account.

"FF Team,

I have qualified for green tier for my 2nd year over a month ago, and have not had any option to select the desired 50SC to my account.
Can this kindly be processed for my account xx_xx_xx_?

Thanks"

I've forwarded my FF Team email to Olivia today - fingers crossed.

Just wondering if anyone has had any issues buying emissions offsets recently? Been trying to buy an offset to check off a leaf, and been popping up with errors in the Marketplace for a few days now, not able to complete the purchase.

Purchased offset last week, no issue. What's the specific error?

So, one of two things are likely to happen at some point... either 1) they fix the system so that things work as they should, and that executive's mailboxes aren't getting bugged by people chasing their GT SCs... or 2) they switch off GT, or revoke the ability to earn SCs or points from achieving it, leaving it as a mere token, like so many other corporate greenwashing initiatives. I'll take the SCs while on offer, but not sure what's in it for them; surely it's more bother than benefit for QF.

It does seem to me (as a non-status chaser) that emailing executives about 50 SCs is inappropriate. I would think that emailing executives was more justifiable when bookings have been stuffed up, cancelled, lost etc. and all other avenues of redress have been exhausted. And that seems to be much less of a problem since the escalations service was started.

Qualified GT last membership year and redeemed reward the same year. Requalified again this year (last month), but 21 days passed by with no reward. Called 131313 yesterday, got a callback today saying that the rewards would be given 21 days after the next membership year, which does not at all match their T&C (21 days after qualifying, one reward per membership year). Told them that I got my last reward last membership year, and they say they will escalate again and get back to me by tmrw.

If they're adamant I'm not getting it before my membership year ends (this month), I'm emailing Olivia.

or 3) (most likely) they adjust the Ts&Cs to reflect reality for year 2 onwards.

The Qantas Marketplace website has some serious bugs in the checkout process. I also had difficulty paying for my offset and making my donation.

The offset refused to process until an address was added (due to coughpy coding on the website, this didn't initially show up given that the offset was electronically delivered).

The donation did not need an address to process, but was flagged as a suss transaction, meaning I had to ring Qantas to get it to process.

But I managed to get there in the end.

Did you offset your residence in MEL or your holiday home in HBA?

Agreed, although this is the executive in charge of loyalty specifically and presumably had some role in Green Tier's development.

A better way forward would be for Qantas to get this right, their terms and conditions to be accurate and just do the stuff they say they will.

I've no sympathy for the executive who's mailbox is getting overwhelmed at present....

You can be quite certain that Ms Worth isn't seeing any of these mails, personally... her EA will be getting the shizits though :)

I have no sympathy for the Executive - but I do worry that if people over-use the executive email route for such trivia then it will no longer work when it is needed for things that actually matter.
