Qantas Hotels no longer supplying Tax Invoices

I used to work for an OTA, and Expedia made us stop sending tax invoices automatically too, 2-3 years ago from memory. You could get them on request, as is required by law, but they were actually quite complicated to generate if it was a package booking and we couldn't include the hotel on the invoice. I know our tax people and our lawyers had fun figuring out the correct thing to do in some of the complex corner cases.

Part of the cause was actually around tax law. Many hotel would provide a tax invoice on request even if you hadn't paid them directly, so you could get two tax invoices for the same hotel stay.

Made a booking today for a hotel in South Australia, had a tax invoice attached to the Qantas Hotels booking confirmation email for what it's worth.
I can only assume these are hotels that are directly registered with Hooroo, as opposed to Expedia / Hooroo via. Expedia?

Well, I finally received my tax invoice from Qantas for my hotel booking after umpteen email requests. It only took 6 weeks, but persistence paid off.
I don't know if you need to submit for approval, but will you get your buTt kicked for being 6 weeks late.
