This is a disgrace. Just the smallest benefit to a loyal P, ripped away. As a regular in 4C I’m no longer going to help hold the attendant’s stuff while he/she performs the preflight drill or engage in small talk. How pathetic. Well done Vanessa, smack your most loyal.
So take it out on the front line who have nothing to do with the policy? That would be a disgrace too - even if it appears more passive agressive than outwardly rude.

The policy change is not OK I agree, but it is not their fault.

Vote with your wallet iver to VA or others, not give the crew stink eye imo.

I wonder how are the QF crew doing? There was clear delight and relief when AJ left the building but having now seen that at least for pax very little had changed so far (better snacks, perhaps), would there be a level of disillusionment building?

The crew probably needs all our smiles and support these days. It ain't easy for them to be the front line if high hopes are being eroded and pax also grow more cynical over time.

The FA won’t even notice, they’ll just shove it in the back pocket of the J seat in front. Such a petty response.

Platinum on Virgin still get free EconomyX seats which have extra legroom, maybe switch rather than seethe in your seat on QF?

Only discussed this with a few crew that I've chatted with abd raised it as tactfully as possible so small sample suze but my impression is basically "more of the same" - more or less how many of us feel.

Now yes there has been some real efforts, charm offensives, and seemingly a change in leadership comms, but actual real changes - in relation to crew treatment and support - are possibly a bit thin on the ground.

Again, only spoken to a few so very anecdotal at best.

I agree with your last point. The front line staff of ANY organisation cop it for all kinds of things well beyond their control and that's simply not fair. Bags lost? Not the fault of the bag rep. Poor catering or seat policy? Not the FA's fault, ATC or gate departure delays? Not on your pilots etc.

Now, crews with crabby attitudes or who maje mistakes - sure - that's on them. Just as we need to acknowledge if we're not always the best customers for whatever reasons.

I booked a trans tasman flight AKL-SYD, and went to reserve a seat in row 4 on the 737. As a WP, this has always been possible, but now there is a seat charge.
I rang QF to check and was told that this had recently been changed and has been enhanced to be only available for Platinum 1.
OK, first world problem, but once again QF appears out to help me with diminishing perks and privileges.

Yes awhile ago now

Apparently can switch at checkin for nix

PS. QF J seats have no seat charge UNLIKE BA J

Was enhanced in April 2024
Row 4 is now "extra legroom seat" $35 for transtasman unless you are P1 or CL

Or wait until 24hrs before flight to see if any available for free.

Of course BA don't charge their Frequent Flyers at Silver or Gold for seats....in J or Y, Domestic, European or long haul...Just saying...., 😜

Ah not for the QF reward tic I acquired for my mid-20s son. No free seat selection

A bit like everyone complained about Mr Dixon, until Mr Joyce, now is the grass greener, so far no change for me anyway.

That's the joys of the BAEC. At least it's a perk that is simply BA ...albeit you can also choose on AY and IB even on their cheapos. Award tic with QF....no chance I guess although does he have BA status? I would.have thought it would work once BA FF is added.

Or Silver ...(Sapphire).
I know BA Silver is higher, but correct me if I’m wrong, but QF PS (OWR) only gets free seat selection on BA, 7 days out? QF (and most OW airlines don’t have that limitation).

Yes. BA ruby can pick up seats without charge 7 days out.
