So what your telling me there Ewing, is that I'll need to dig out my hi-vis vests if I want to fly from now on?
Sounds good to me... Do I get extra points for wearing steel capped thongs?

These "poor clothing attire in the lounge" threads pop up from now and again, its been argued to death from about every corner of the room and I just wasted valuable time reading ........ so I guess I'll go blow better time playing Candy Crush Saga LOL

It's in the microwave...

Not that this subject hasn't been done to death yet, but to add in my 2c...

Standard response #262, and I'm preempting I'll also need to retort with standard response #15 as well...
Some off topic posts on popcorn have been moved to a more appropriate place.

As for the LAX lounge, it's likely occupied by more that a few noveau statused FiFo's with their broods combing back from their 'merican hols to Disney or whatever.

I seriously doubt there's any HiViz in sight there as they'd be 'off duty' (so to speak).

Remember that many travellers are on vacation and frankly I don't want to wear a 3 piece suit, pocket-watch and top hat while flying, especially if I am on vacation.

Frankly I am affronted every time I am asked to turn off my pocket watch and place my top hat under the seat in front me! I shall return to ocean liners for my Atlantic crossings forthwith.

Rather! Those ghastly attendants don't even take my cane anymore to be stowed in the closet.

They say 'l' have to put it in the overhead locker. Upstarts! What do they think they are paid to do?

It's the bare feet perched on lounges that do my head.

Well I can't believe the guy in high viz this after noon in the SYD J lounge brightest yellow and "security" in big red letters. Just got the whole mood down. The guy even wandered into staff only areas. Just not on!!!

Now that I am WP I am mostly concerned that the QF Int F Lounges are not contaminated with poorly dressed bogans. I find the poor attire and loud talking most problematic in Qantas lounges generally - I've never seen this sort of unpleasantness in CX or AA lounges abroad.

This has been discussed before. The consensus was that the problem is caused by QF's policy of letting in red e-deal economy class WP riff raff into business and first class lounges. These are usually FIFO workers, salespeople, trainers and other undesireables who bring down the whole tone of the place.

To the OP, I apologize on behalf of all the flippant posts here but really, this topic has been done to death and back. Lets find a nice quiet corner for this topic and seat relining to live out the rest of their days. I suspect that is just wishful thinking, sigh.

Hmm, from my personal experience/evidence shown to me, FIFO workers (BHP/RIO/FMG on QF Flights) are on full Y fares.

May I ask how you know what fare class people are on? Do you go around and ask?

I'd personally be quite happy to have the suited up business people who feel compelled to yell into their telephone the entire time they're in the lounge booted out.

I'm a self funded flyer, and will happily be one of those red e-deal economy class WP "riff raff" but looking at my upcoming bookings I have:

- Numerous economy sale fares
- 9x J flights
- 1x F

And I'll travel in whatever I feel comfortable in, which for me is usually jeans and a polo (or even *gasp* a t-shirt). I've even entered a lounge wearing shorts before but put some jeans on before sitting in 1A. My apologies if that offends anyone in this thread, but you're free to sit away from me and mind your own business.

Actually looking at my bookings I'll re-qualify for WP in 40 flights all on QF metal or an average of 30 SCs each. Maybe I haven't been flying discount Y as much as I thought I had

Don't despair OP, there is major relief coming - as the AUD continues it's decline, the dress standards at the TBIT Lounge will rise as the noveau FiFo's go back to Bali.

The plural form is nouveaux.
But, as an uncultured FIFO, I wouldn't know that.

Agree things are getting out of control. I recently saw a "Gentleman" wearing a tie several (at least three!) shades lighter than his shirt - disgusting behaviour.

I also recently saw a young chap wearing white shoes with a lounge suit in the Gentleman's Club (PC Term - Qantas Domestic Business Lounge). Now I understand the Nationals (with a new name) are back in power in Queensland, but still this was in Sydney in winter and to my knowledge there was no Real Estate Agent Convention in town.
