I had it on arrival into AKL after the flight from Melbourne which included a couple of scotches... was actually really good.

Oh, that's identical to the menu on QF41 SYD-CGK for the past 2 months!

ETA - the mezze plate and chicken sandwich are my top picks (don't eat seafood)

Well I had the orecchiette next. Unlike me to not have meat or fish, but having already had breakfast on a flight from AKL then a couple of dishes in the F lounge, pasta actually appealed. Good choice too - it was fantastic:

Had the cheese afterward which was OK but not great. About an hour before landing I had the duck. Also very good. Have to say had one of the best crews ever on this flight. Constantly available, pro-active in offering drinks or snacks etc. Qantas at its best.

Here's the duck:

wow kermatu - yours and my flight couldn't have been more different! I also had the pasta... overcooked, floury, and bland. The mezze plate... dried out. The pastizzi snack... frozen puff pasty treats you buy at the supermarket but gone wrong. Chewy and overcooked. Even the duck choice for the snack looked nothing like yours. Unbelievable how the same menu, different kitchens, can produce one rave review and one at the other extreme.

The duck presentation changed on QF41 between Jan and Feb from a miniature noodle box to a bowl, not sure if they changed the duck itself; I declined both snacks on my Feb flight as I disliked them when I tried them earlier.

I had heard it was noodle boxes so was a bit surprised to get a bowl. I enjoyed it anyway.

Can only assume having a good crew - who cared about food quality - would have helped, at least in terms of final preparation.

SIN-SYD "Supper" flight - QF82 - J - Feb 2017:

Pretty embarassing that a flight that leaves at 7:15pm is classed as supper.
