At the risk of going against the trend, I am pleased to see this. They are a nice gift idea for family/friends who fly infrequently

As these give priority checkin, couldn't one just purchase a single pass and have priority checkin all year round, then use the pass at the end? I already have priority checkin and QP too, but just wondering how that would be prevented.

It could go something like this:
1) Passenger arrives at priority check in and presents the $45 QP pass.
2) Check in agent takes the QP pass and checks in the passenger.
3) Check in agent gives the passenger another card specifically for lounge access.
4) Passenger arrives at the lounge.
5) Lounge angels take the lounge access card.

To stop pax using the priority check in and lounge access on separate trips the pass handed over in 3 could be numbered, dated, or colour coded.

Sounds too complex for qantas to manage.

can you pay to access the lounge at the airport? i'd find this the most beneficial option if my flight was delayed. i'm only QFF silver and thankfully had my free pass on my last thursday when my 5pm BNE-MEL was delayed by 3 hours. i probably got about $45 value out of it :)

While there are probably a few ways of preventing it, I am not sure it would be a huge problem. So, I don't think they would take steps to stop it.

The offer seems to be a mail out only and only to buy four passes at a time.

Speaking from experience, back in the days prior to status, I've used the priority lines a few times when I was not meant to. They checked me in and didn't say anything about this was not the line to be in, each time it was only as I was leaving the checkin desk I realised it was not the pleb line. So really I expect that anyone could use a J line at any time without too many problems (obviously if every one did they may start questioning things).

The priority line in Per Dom is not very priority at all, QF WP to QP, OW/RSE, J.... They forgot Joe and Mary Bloggs

There have been a few times where I've joined the Y queue because the J queue was much longer and slower...
That's the problem when you have flights which are status pax heavy as everyone is priority...

If you are flying enough in a year that you would really benefit from this trick then you are probably flying enough to get silver status and so would get the same priority check in benefit through status anyway.

Ah, silver has priority checkin too?

Then that's true, it wouldn't be a large problem. Just wonder if qantas had thought about it or just played the numbers game and hope its a small problem.

Not sure whether this is a good thing or not..but now you can officially purchase Qantas Club Passes from Qantas.
Qantas Club Passes
It looks like they value each entry at $45..
Hahahaha

That cannot be serious.

45 dollars to not be able to find a seat, be forced to stand up and bump into people in a crowded room all for a luke warm coffee.....Seriously it has to be a joke.

The perfect gift for someone you don't like.

All the discussion here about using the pass for priority checkin then presupposes that Qantas can actually manage priority checkin in the first place. We do have a thread here with 2258 posts discussing how awful Qantas are at doing this :!:

We do?

I've never had a problem with it

Easy. Take pass off at check in, print QC access on boarding pass.. Done
