Not sure whether this is a good thing or not..but now you can officially purchase Qantas Club Passes from Qantas.

Not a good thing specially in some of the already very crowded lounges !!!

I'd say that QF have already looked at the underground market for these things and have decided that they want a piece of the action. Personally if I was to purchase one, I'd want my lounge experience to be the best it could possibly be. The way the (esp dom) lounges are now, if my QF membership was costing the equiv of $45 a visit, I probably wouldn't be renewing next year. So had I used the pass for one of the woeful lounge experiences that crop up from time to time, I'd probably be asking for my money back... Also at $45 per visit I'd also be looking at a good 2 to 3 hours in the QP, otherwise you could have simply gone downstairs into one of the airport bars (some of which are pretty nice), gotten a few beers and some food at airport prices and it'd have been cheaper.

Not a great idea, and funny that they're moving into the space that VA recently left? But perhaps a good gift idea for my NB sister who occasionally flies them.

With so many other airlines doing this it is no surprise. They are only on sale until Dec 31 so maybe they are testing the waters and/or drumming up holiday business?

At $45 a pop you would want a decent experience as mentioned above - there are much cheaper and better ways to get a 'barista' coffee along with cheese and crackers at the airport :)

Now if F lounge passes were for sale....

Not going to change a hell of a lot IMO, as harvyk said the black market is already there for them and I doubt many will buy in.

$45/visit is steep especially for a domestic QP. If one uses an international lounge though it makes it better value.

I wonder if they are going to change the lounge access back to guest passes (which I know at least one person advocates)...

I don't think it will make much difference to overcrowding as at $179 minimum purchase not that many people will be buying.

Now if there was a corporate product at a bit of a discount it would be useful for people who travel a bit but not enough to warrant QP membership - companies could have a pool of passes to hand out to infrequent travellers...

Hmm, Is Miranda Kerr really a special feature of the pass?
One might consider skipping the business lounge ...

Something tells me that she is probably already a CL, and thus will not be found in either the QP or the JLounge...

Gee, these must be heavy buggers! Shipping cost for four passes to NZ is $40, and to the USA is $56.

Might not be the worst value if it allowed you to take a guest in plus you had a child (sorry i was too lazy to click through to link)... But wondering if a better deal would just be to buy the AA 30 day pass for $100 if you were a dedicated Qantas flier and just use that (although also not sure if you could get a guest/partner in with that or children either...)

Unfortunately, I dont think you can use these passes for international Jlounge visits...

Lounge access to Qantas Club lounges domestically

Qantas Club lounge passes can be used at 23 Qantas locations including 11 Regional locations (refer qantas.com.au/qantasclub for full list)

Looking at the link, it seems to only be for Domestic Lounge visits; maybe they're trying to target the (not yet converted) business flyer to fork out $$$ for QP membership?

The shipping is a right price gouge - $40 to ship to NZ & $56 to the US??? Who are they kidding??

(actually, I think that was in a J Lounge ....)

What might be a better idea is if after selling these passes to the customer you then offered them a discount of that amount on the purchase of QP Membership within a set time!

That might encourage people to buy passes to see if QP Access is useful to them'

Interesting, I had assumed they were the same as the passes handed out to PS members. Obviously not!

LOL - what a waste of money. $45 for a couple of beers, chips and wifi?!

Oh this is just so great. I'm so thrilled that the removal of anytime access has rectified that terrible lounge overcrowding issue so much that Qantas can now sell casual passes. What a relief!

Gee, at a casual glance, I didn't even notice the not so fine print of "domestically", me thinks that the placing of the words on that page was not done by accident...
Yeah, there is no QP anywhere on the QF dom network which is even close to $45 in value. Also at $40 shipping, good thing they are not a freight company...........wait a minute...
