Re: OLCI windows Obsercation/Circumstance

Nope - I flew SYD-BNE at 0705 last Tuesday, returning at 1715 the same day - checked in for both flights at around 1430 the day before (so was more than 24 hours before the return leg).

This is my experience also. Better half and I had a ADL to MEL day trip last week - 0630 out, 1940 return. Checked 9am the day before and got both flights on OCLI. Even got 4A/C for the return (Seq #1 & 2 of course). Was her first stint in the MEL lounge as well, so in all it was a good reward for my scraping into SG late last year.

To give credit where it is due, I had success this morning with OLCI for both outgoing and returning flights SYD-MEL-SYD tomorrow.

There is an early rant buried somewhere in this topic where I complained of no luck. Its only fair to report an improvement. I have seq 4 outbound and seq 1 coming back, my only concern being that there were more than three quarters of the economy seats down to MEL allocated by 8:32 this morning, 2 minutes shy of 24 hours.

Apologies for resurrecting an old(ish) thread but this seemed the best place to post.

On Friday I did OLCI for my MEL-BNE flight and fronted up to the J bag drop queue at MEL airport.

I was told by the check-in agent that they now have a dedicated bag drop for people doing OLCI (as opposed to using the kiosks at the airport). This is the old J check-in counter located on the LHS of the check-in area. There is a sign (albeit small) indicating this.

I asked about status passengers continuing to use the QP/J gab drop and was told that this would probably still be OK.

Apparently this has been done (from what I was told) to cater for people that do OLCI and do not print BP's :?:

I believe these OLCI bag drop counters do not have the facility to print BP's.

The patron using these bag drops OLCI would need to be armed with a printed copy of their A4 .pdf BP.

But why would it be only for OLCI people and not for Quick-Check users, who will also not require a BP to be printed by the bag drop people? I don't understand why OLCI would get its own line separate to Quick Check bag drop?

Perhaps they are trying to encourage people to check in online

Yep, I think BA are really pushing for this as well. Especially at CDG.
