Qantas operated LAX First/oneworld lounges at TBIT

Re: New TBIT (Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX) opens today

Not the current lounge has capacity for 400 PAX; once completed this will increase by 200 in the Business side and 200 in the First side thus doubling.

I never did a head count in the old TBIT OW F lounge, but does anyone know what was the advertised capacity? Will the new F lounge be as crowded as the old one?

There's no doubt the new lounge is nice but it currently ends up chockers from 2000 onwards.

Hopefully the expansion helps.

I hope not ... overall the finished *O lounge will be ~125% larger (i.e. 2.5×) than the previous facility.

According to this article the opening of the 200 seat firstsection is planned for "around new years day":

Looks like it is open:

Nice! I'll be there for 4 hours on January 15, but I'm sure some people here will post reviews and pictures very soon. Anyone in the lounge right now? :)

Re: New TBIT (Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX) opens today

Seriously much needed IMHO The last few times I was in the (now old) F side lounge it was usually packed, cramped (that long thin kind of area) and the wifi was dreadful. Not to mention some caliber of selfish persons I saw using the lounge from time to time like the family who draped their bags and stuff all over a set of seats while they went to have showers or the people who would drape themselves over 2-3 seats for comfort seemed very selfish to me forcing some to stand(who clearly had more manners than to point out the obvious). Often there would be calls for people to get bags off seats and the obvious courtesies that you would think ANYONE would observe in a small space with big demand. It was my least fave lounge in the network by far. I'd much rather have stayed in the AA T4 FCL.....

Re: New TBIT (Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX) opens today

2 questions:
Has this fixed the overcrowding in the Business lounge?
Is this a shared Oneworld lounge liked the business lounge or a fully QF owned lounge?

Given the lounge just opened, too early to tell.
But given it will drag all the Emeralds/ First pax out of that lounge, it will certainly help

Is this a shared Oneworld lounge liked the business lounge or a fully QF owned lounge?
AusBT posts seem to call it the Qantas lounge, and I think earlier suggestions were that this was all-QF

The pictures and the AusBT article make it sound really good and something to want to visit for sure :)

Re: New TBIT (Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX) opens today

Sadly the stage-2 extension to the Business Lounge is delayed to early 2015 ...
So, the available space has been doubled by the 200 for the First lounge - the remaining space for an additional 200 business lounge in another month or so.

Just in time for me :)

Better than a picture, come with me on a walk through: Los Angeles International First Lounge Walkthrough | Qantas

Looks sensational :). And the a la carte dining. Wonder if there are any other 'non home' airline lounges anywhere that offer a la carte?

But now a nice choice to make. I'm due for a Circle Pacific in January, via HKG on the outward leg. But then I want to fly out of YVR on the new SYD direct service AND I also want to try out the new LAX lounge.

Probably end up doing YVR, as the LAX lounge will still be there next time and I want to support the YVR service in the hope it encourages Qantas to make it permanent sometime (I did about 90,000 km on Air Canada this year because of their direct SYD service and the fact that going via LAX is a pain. Either a YVR service or the new LAX lounge might help the choices for next year.

By the look of the sign in the walk-through, this is a Qantas Lounge, not a shared OneWorld lounge. RR can you confirm whether this is the case, please? But then again, I guess it doesn't make any difference to who can get in, across the OneWorld airlines?
