Qantas operated LAX First/oneworld lounges at TBIT

I was in LAX last month and actually had a very good experience.

Same menu as you.
Didn’t bother with the wines, stuck to Taittinger.
Excellent attentive service.
My daughter and I shared a SP squid, and the Basque cheesecake was delicious!!

The cheesecake looks good!
My only highlight was the Jalapaloma coughtail!

Menu from LAX first lounge on Friday. Service was really ordinary!
Bummer. I was there twice at the end of last year, earlyish Nov and mid-Dec. I've missed some of the staff who used to be there before Covid. I felt there was a better welcome back then. YMMV.

I had mixed service at the tables, though the barman was great in mid-Dec. There seemed to be only QF12 flying back to OZ that night, and a few BA/CX pax. Mr Katie asked for a Martini, and the barman explained due to LAX airport rules, he can't make a drink with two shots of alcohol. He acknowledged there might be ways around the rule. ;) Mr Katie ordered one of the special coughtails, which the barman had offered and enthused about. We were sitting on the lounge chairs that overlook the open space; the barman delivered our drinks to our chairs.

My main disappointment was when we all showered, we lost our lounge chairs by the window! We didn't feel like "bar"ring them with some of our stuff. But, that's on us, not the lounge staff. :D

See post #432 in this thread.
I hadn’t noticed before on that post that it’s still the “Winter” menu. How often does LAX change? You’d expect “Spring” by now or soon?

I’ll be passing through soon but it’ll still be breakfast time. Early May and heading home on QF 12 - should have moved on from “Winter” by then!

I’m on AS in a couple of weeks not sure if I’ll squeeze a visit in here but I’ll try

On plus side I read that QF are reinstating early check-in from 2:30pm at LAX, so I should now be able to avoid paying for a day hotel. And if I cant be bothered heading into LA, could actually have about 8hrs in the First Lounge.

Oh, do you have a link? My upcoming trip we’ll be driving up from SAN. Getting in before LA peak 3 hrs could be the go. Might even do a reverse lounge crawl 😁

I was contemplating the same. I get in from DFW just after 1pm (assuming no significant delays), so once I collect luggage wouldnt be too long of a wait til check-in opens and I could check out a number of lounges; as QF12 doesnt leave untill 11:40pm, so i assume boarding from 11pm.

Does the LAZ first lounge have spa treatments?

This has already been done. We just missed it when we were on QF12 in January. Got to the check-in desks right as they closed at 4:30pm. Regular check-in opened at 5pm though so no big issue. Found it odd that they bothered closing the desks for just 30 minutes.

No, no spa in the QF LAX FLounge. There are shower rooms, restaurant and bar. I quite like the lounge seats along the windows with the foot rests. When you get there, you'll understand what I'm talking about.

LAX FLounge experiences last year:
21 Oct 2022 - Summer Breakfast menu
4 Nov 2022 - Dinner menu (no season noted on the menu??)
10 Dec 2022 - Autumn menu (dinner time)

The US won't be observing spring until the equinox. Not sure how quickly the menus change. *shrug*

What was the flight they were opened for earlier?

Can't think of any Australian bound flight departing at that time - it would have arrived about 2am. I'm guessing a once off disruption?

Sorry, I wasn’t clear.

I was on an AA flight from SEA-LAX, different ticket, landed approx 3:30pm. We got over to TBIT to re-check the bags with QF right on 4:30pm which was when early check in was closing. It then reopened for regular check in at 5pm. This was for all the Aus-bound flights that evening. QF12 was last to depart at 10:30pm.

Did you know in advance it was open? How were you advised?

Otherwise, odd they would offer it without telling anybody - how would they have known it was opened?

It certainly wasn't made known to the wider public
