Qantas operated LAX First/oneworld lounges at TBIT

Re: When is the new LA lounge opening?

QF operate the oneworld J lounge. And AFAIK operate it as it was a QF lounge (except for accepting lounge passes bit).

Exactly, which means it can be used by QF SG. And they have clearly stated that tipping in not expected in the J lounge nor the F lounge.

Good grief - first time in QF LAX F Lounge today and I am here like 10 mins and I notice this:

IMG_7424.JPG

Carpet on the floor - imm think I best put the goggles on - nope already got them on - maybe too many champers - nope only my second - what is it with this carpet? Doing my head in!

Saddled up to eat in dining room - false and misleading advertising - the minute steak took 2 mins to arrive - have never seen food order delivered so quickly in my life!

Sorry no more time to post - only 2 more hours to consume Laurent Perrier pre boarding - a mans gotta do what he's gotta do!

Are you worried that the hexagons look blurred? That would be the Laurent Perrier.
Nope it's not - I am convinced it is a ploy by QF to restrict alcohol consumption - make pax believe they are 'Molly the monk' ASAP and they might drink in moderation - I won't be falling for that old chestnut!

It's the same as the carpet in SYD and MEL Flounges.
Have some more bubbles and your eyes soon get used to it

Marc designed a rescue remedy. The vertical plant wall was to in his words "enhance (there's that word again) oxygenation". So maybe if feeling a little woozy go stand next to the plants.

Serious? What sort of flog would put that carpet in a F Lounge? If I was building a man cave it would be perfect - I can just imagine cove and infinity trying to 'tip toe through the tulips' after a skinful!

Spose the same clown chose this carpet as those hideous kiddies school camp eatin' irons QF emply in F - if Baden Powell was alive today he'd be demanding royalties!

You could always check out the showers ... white and bright enough in those to make one forage for their sunnies ...

Seriously though ... haven't you noticed the hexagon theme for much of Qantas décor? Ooops .. that's right, you probably haven't spent much time in QF lounges :)

Those are what you'll get to use in flight as well ...

... just a warning, so watch out - the plates have a limited centralised support and any pressure toward the sides can cause them to flip - often with messy results ...

Yep had a shower - very white but also very good - yep had the QF cutlery before - TBH really good Lounge exp - request to QF lovers pls don't take what I post too seriously - it's all in good fun.

Yes! This is really flipping (pun intended) annoying. They desperately need to re-design the plates with additional support towards the edges. Not sure why a regular flat bottomed plate isn't possible.

I suppose spelling a name with c gives the owner of the name a certain cachet.

He seems to like the hexagonal motif. Or maybe he had some leftover from the Qantas brief?

I'm not sure if it was around earlier but I first remember seeing the hexagonal theme on cover of the booklet that got mailed to uber top tier Platinums in 2008 in advance of the new A380 and maybe Melbourne and Sydney F lounges.

It was earlier - the current SYD and MEL First lounges were open and operating by May 2007.

While I'm fine now, the amount of toast that I flung off those plates when they were first introduced is somewhat embarrassing...

I'd never had a problem with the plates tipping until our recent F flight...might have been more to do with the bottle of Taittinger CdC before takeoff

Have the plates (in the F lounge) actually changed? I haven't had a problem for a while - I was quite critical before - but haven't had any problems last several visits and now quite like them. And I am sure I haven't become a less-clumsy diner.

Nup - they are the original Newson design from 2007.

I have got used to them¹, maybe you have as well.

¹ Not without an "educational" olive oil or sauce splash here and there ...
