Qantas operated LAX First/oneworld lounges at TBIT

Thanks for this feedback opusman, RooFlyer and Katie.

Once again, I'd like to reiterate that tipping is personal preference, however not necessary at any of our lounges. All services are provided as part of our premium offering.

No tipping in the OW lounge either, its against policy.

According to RedRoo it's not against policy, just a personal preference.

Was just pointing out that even when getting free drinks in AA lounges where served you feels obligated to tip.

I quite happily tipped the bartender who looked after my daughter and I for 6 hours. He even gave her a few different mocktails until she found one she liked. Then kept checking to make sure we were ok. On the other hand, the waiter who left the empty coffee cup there for 4 hours until I asked him to remove it didn't get one. I hate tipping for bad service.

Arrived at the First lounge about 7pm and the place is busy if not bursting.

The place reeked of battered fishyness and not in a good way as a pale miasma of squiddy steam/cooking gasses erupted from the kitchen area (presumably bulk precooking for the evening), although it has cleared up a bit recently - sounds like they have turned the exhaust fans up.

Service has been attentive ...

Re: When is the new LA lounge opening?

Just checking the OW lounge website ...... I didn't realise this wasn't a combined J/F lounge ... so as a lowly SG I'll have to go to the non-QF lounge - does that mean I'll have to tip? :(:(

Too many WP flying Y?

Too many WP flying Y?

No ... more likely they were pre-cooking a large batch of S'n'P Squid for the evening and the exhaust fans could not cope ...

I did move tables to the other side of the restaurant area, away from the kitchen aperture.

The new airside connector allowing more pax to experience the QF FLounge?

Re: When is the new LA lounge opening?

OH!

So it got packed even before the connector?
The night i was there in January it was crowded when I arrived but I was able to get a table easily enough ... later on there seemed to be a wait, but it was borderline.

Yes the LAX Flounge is very busy in the evening IME even before you add in the T4 guests.

Re: When is the new LA lounge opening?

There are at least 5 non AA long haul oneworld flights departing LAX after 8pm. Can easily get busy with the QF, CX and BA flights at those times.

So why wouldn't you just use the Qantas lounge as a gold? You aren't expected to tip in there.

I thought the only QF lounge was the First lounge?
