Qantas operated LAX First/oneworld lounges at TBIT

Re: QF/CX/BA open new Los Angeles Business Lounge

Seriously? OWE in CX Wing F get a clothes pressing service?

Yes, indeed. Inside the cabana, one of the wall panel opens when pushed and you simply have to put your clothes on the hanger and press the doorbell and voila!

And if you're lucky they bring back your clothes!

Re: QF/CX/BA open new Los Angeles Business Lounge

This is why I said in the HKG lounge threat that QF HKG lounge needs to press pants and shine shoes for WP/OWE if they want to cut down on CX Wing F lounge charges.

Re: New LA QP Opens June 17 - AUSBT

Can anyone confirm that you are not able to use complimentary lounge passes to access the new lounge? It appears to be a Qantas branded lounge but is also referred to as a OneWorld lounge, if it's the latter then I know they can't be used.

Right at the bottom of the page it does still say "Note: Complimentary invitations cannot be used in the Los Angeles oneworld lounge." Unfortunately.

You never know though.

Yep - although I'm wondering if that's a hang over from the old lounge which was definitely classed as a OneWorld lounge. Oh well, I'll give it a crack and see how I go.

The new lounge is clearly indicated as being a oneworld lounge not a Qantas lounge.

I was in there on 19th in the evening and the person in front of me was turned away with a Qantas complimentary lounge pass. Lounge was absolutely packed - standing room only.

Very disappointing that lounge pass is not valid at LAX. LAX is QFi most important destination. QF manage the lounge, and capacity has been increased with the renovations.

Do you think that since it's not a QF lounge that they and the other OW partners may have some sort of payment per pax arrangement? If that were the case I could see sense in QF choosing not to allow the passes at LAX.

An American Airlines $99 30 day Membership will admit two (member and one guest) to this lounge before a Qantas flight. (Admirals Club Locations And Pass Information)

It also has the benefit of providing access to Qantas Clubs, Qantas International Business lounges and Admirals Clubs before AA or QF flights for 30 days from inception.

LAX Lounge

In the new lounge now, plenty of seats but a bit early yet I suppose , plenty of selection drinks wise, also food,
decor very pleasing and staff very obliging ,all in all no complaints from me.

Re: LAX Lounge

What a nightmare this new lounge is. I was there last Thursday night with a group of three other colleagues. Yes it's nice. yes, the food selection is good. BUT:
- we arrived about 1:15 prior to departure of QF12. Impossible for us to find any seats together, rather the only seats available were single seats. We ended up "mingling" near the bar which was the only option.
- as a Plat I was unable to get a shower before departure - "too many waiting" I was told" - I thought Plat / Emerald were meant to receive priority?

We ended up leaving the lounge to find somewhere quieter in the terminal. I know the lounge is going to be expanded this year, but the current arrangement is completely unacceptable. The old first lounge was small and dated, and the wifi didn't work, but at least I could always get a seat! What's the use of a lounge without enough seating?

I did see Eric Bana in the lounge though and he seemed happy sitting in a corner waiting for his flight. Must have gotten there earlier than us.

Sometimes size DOES matter...

Note that it will increase by 200 seats to 600 when the First section is completed "early 2015".

There is a further extension of 200 to the Business lounge as well, making the total capacity 800.

Until then I may hang out at T4 as I have been doing the last four or more years.

Could be all Plat/Emerald taht got in the shower queue before you.
Personally wouldn't leave it so late to get to the lounge, especially at a busy time for the operator.

I was due to be ... But the AA connection was 1 hour late from San Jose. And then the lax shuffle from gate 44 (bus to terminal 4) and then to TBIT took over an hour as well! How longh are you meant to leave between connections. It's beside the point anyway - the lounge isn't even close to big enough. They should have opened it as first only until the larger lounge was finished.

I have long proponed that it is quicker to walk from the T4 Flagship Lounge and go out landside (stay at the departures level) before going back through TBIT security to the lounges than take the bus.

Other than that there is no point fronting for the (now) gate 45 bus other than 25 minutes after or 5 minute before the hour.

I agree - later in the evening security is actually quieter at TBIT.

I came in on Alaska A very late - thought I'd miss flight.

Luggage was checked through.

Darted into TBIT and no queue for security and straight to gate.

Also surprisingly luggage made it.

Earlier in night security is a nightmare as the Korean etc all seem to have pax leaving.
