Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Thanks Donovan301. I was leaning toward the shiraz as I'm not a huge champagne fan. Nice to have the choice, if I can get it.

Guess I will just ask. Irritating but no biggie. Another sign though that there's really little attempt to personalise or understand an individual's circumstances.

Had a great flight simulator experience last week with my 17 year old aspiring pilot son.

Many thanks to Qantas and the P1 team for making it available to us and for looking after us so well.

Kermatu you need to request it via the SST. A long waiting list I understand and limited spaces but a fantastic experience if you get the chance.
Thanks pjm99au. I actually just edited my post as I thought my question was a bit impolite. I have 20 months to go as a P1 so may well make a request. Really glad you and your Son enjoyed it.

Cheers.

I was booked for last week but then realised I'm on QF98 that day so moved it to March. On my last simulator experience we tried to recreate the 'Miracle on the Hudson' (failed miserably of course :p ).

So they're allowing more than one sim session ? Or was this separate to P1 offer?

re the "need to request" thing.. when i first attained P1 back in 2014 the first welcome call I had from the SST included an offer on the sim session (a 737 IIRC). I turned it down as I'd be useless in a sim due to my eyesight and stuff, but it was appreciated for sure :) Maybe it's still offered on first becoming P1?

Technically P1 is not retained but earned each year, which is also the case for all benefits attached to it.

Semantics. I notice qantas.com lets me know the goal I need to "keep" Platinum One, but really a minor point.

If I have it, and I EARN the required 3600/2700 then I will have retained what I have, if I do not, then I did not retain it.

If I did not have it, and I earn the 3600/2700 then I earned it (or in QF language, attained it)

but OK fine the question is still the same.. this suggests if one EARNS the P1 status every year then you'd be allowed multiple goes at the sim?

Yep, that's why P1 is slightly different, each membership year counts as new status with all benefits attached.

Funny then why does my renewal every year mention it and only give me the stupid booklet and not more coasters and ipad cover?

anyway this is really pedantic in my view so I'll leave it here :)

Yea with QF you need to ask for everything. It's quite annoying but I did asked for new iPad cover when lost my original one (it was a while ago so not sure if they still have them) and also asked for new coasters.

Thanks for posting this, I did not know this was on the P1 list. I have called the SST to request this experience, out of curiosity what was the wait time? I am P1 for at least next 18 months then only time will tell when I start to slide down the ladder, it will eventually happen.

I'm not sure of the wait time specifically it was just the comment made at the time I enquired. We waited about 3 months. They used the 767 simulator for us and they had crew coming in for training after so they may link it to when they have actual training on.

P1s can book the simulator on the last Thursday of every month (unless it falls on public holiday) for either afternoon (15:00-16:30) or evening (17:00-18:30) sessions. There will be two P1s plus their guests in the simulator cabin on each session.

Great info - thanks. (I've been promised some details from the Events SSE but yet to hear back). Forgive my ignorance, but is it Sydney or Melbourne?

I dd mine in Sydney on the 744. I am confident it is usually just Sydney. Enjoy it was the best thing about P1 for me.

When I became P1 they let us choose between SYD and MEL but in the last few years they only do SYD.

in 2014 I was offered 737 in MEL since I am MEL based (obviously :D ) but it may well have changed.

Many thanks to the P1 team for tickets to Matilida The Musical, in Perth, great show, good seats, Mrs Nuata1 and I enjoyed the occasion. Now looking forward to the Melbourne Grand Prix (reduced rates care of P1 team) and its my birthday on that weekend, so very special. Thanks P1 team.
