Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Yes I had the same experience here in Perth - my daughter had been badgering us for weeks and then the invite email from the P1 team arrived. Great stuff. First example of that sort of thing happening though in the 18 months I have been P1, so looking forward to seeing what else might turn up in the future :)

The new BNE lounge looks amazing, best in Australia and probably one of the most impressive Dom lounges in the world. Thanks P1 for the soft opening invite!

Yes, the pics on social media shared tonight look like QF really has developed a phenomenal lounge in BNE.

If QF are doing any focus groups on how the urgently required refresh to the domestic MEL lounges should look like, I would be delighted to share some of my ideas. :p

Apparently MEL Dom J is next on the list (just after they finish relocating BNE CL in the old J space).

MEL is in dire need that is for sure.

back on topic... P1 you could have invited me to BNE you know. Just sayin' :D

How do they plan to make the MEL Dom J lounge bigger? Do they plan to relocate it and relocate the MEL CL to the current J space similar to what was done in BNE?

Any plans to improve the International J lounge and/or the International F Lounge? At times the FLounge could do with a larger dining room.

Probably should be taken to a new thread the discussion of MEL J lounges

but I'd say CL where the MEL J is now is a no go. That would mean the CL uber entitled would have to go through the QC. That wouldn't happen. They are quite well situation where they are.

Space is at a premium in T1 I am not certain how it might work for a new MEL J lounge, but whatever they do has got to be an improvement IMHO.
(yes, even if somehow they add area underneath where the current lounge is in that area that is currently a walkway and has other stuff.

IMHO.

Maybe they can dedicate an old broom cupboard to become a P1 lounge :p (like United used to have dedicated 1K rooms at its main hubs.. and they were very unexciting)

I've asked those questions but either they don't know yet or I'm not important enough to be given this information (I suspect it's the latter :p ).

MEL J current size is ok. What it definitely needs is more contemporary design as it looks bit old and tired.

Yea, it won't happen ;)

What they could have easily done is introduce some extra perks for P1s in the existing space like the real champagne offered in BNE Int lounge but I've heard no indication about anything being offered in Dom J.

However, since BNE CLs will stay in the Dom J lounge while theirs is being renovated, will be interesting to see if they will be offered some extra perks.

Off topic but Terminal 1 is a disgrace in so many respects. I can't believe all the main outdoor signage is STILL in the old 1984 Qantas logo. When will they get that fixed? Looks completely ridiculous now they've evolved the roo twice. The first tier of gates are looking really worn and tired too and the baggage claim area is third world.

Thanks for the invite. Would have been nice to go to the opening.

Not much of an experience per se but on leaving yesterday's BNE-MEL flight the CSM did say goodbye and tacked on a "Thank you for being a Platinum One" which was a nice touch. Unexpected though so I think I said something stiupid like "no worries" in response. WTF?! I just didn't expect it !

It was my requalification flight too so I'm P1 till September, 2018.

I didn't get any recognition on any of my recent flights.
I also got a seat buddy on the last two QFLink flights when the male golds and Plats around me at the front rows sat solo.
Might have been a trim issue not sure.

No, I expect Brisbane CLs will stay in the current CL until the new one is ready. Then the current CL space is being handed back to BAC.

I found the P1 seat mate finding service to be the most efficient part of QF. Although I can't remember signing up for it. :D

I must be fair to QF to note that on Sunday 11/12 J seats were taken and the empty was next to me. Rare but happy time :D
