Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Having just returned from the US with a markedly delayed QF108 JFK-LAX flight which would have missed our LAX-MEL connection if not dealt with, I was pleased to receive two personal phone calls from the P1 team (3am Saturday morning Australian time) proactively keeping me informed of the situation (LAX-MEL held back for us + many others). My wife, travelling in the same classes, but only a WP and on a separate PNR had to content herself with a couple of flight delay text messages.

OpUps and shadows - I like to pay for and sit in 1A and more often than not don't have anyone sitting next to me. I have no interest in playing the OpUp lottery, nor would I expect to get anything other than exactly what I paid for, no matter how much I flew.

What *is* important to me is how well the problem I just encountered was dealt with - as soon as I got the first phone call I could stop worrying. That's exactly what *I* want from the P1 team.

Thanks, P1 team (Julianna + everyone else).

I've generally been very happy with the P1 SST - a couple of times they've helped out when they've seen flights being delayed and connections that I'm in danger of missing. My only complaint about P1 is the shadow thing - I'm sure I get it less that I did as a WP. It just irritates me when I have someone sitting next to me and all the WP's behind have shadows (or at least my fevered imagination makes me think that everyone with a shadow must be a WP)

For those that are P1, how long did it take for your account to reflect the new status once you had the required points?

I hit the 3600 mark (including the QF requirement) on Wednesday but still no change. I think I read somewhere that your account has to be manually reviewed, just curious as to how long it takes.

It took a couple of weeks to come through. And yes I too was told of the manual counting requirement.

I did hear from the Plat line that the system does a search once a week for new WP1 members. From memory mine took a full week to happen.

They clearly don't want to put too much stress on the Amiga 500 server. Once a week sounds sensible.

It does seem a little odd that the highest level to be earned in QF does not have some sort of automatic recognition. I waited about a week and quite frankly had a poor experience on the telephone when chasing it up. So much for "the ultimate level of personalised service ". That said after about a year it did improve quite a lot.

My Points upgrade SYD LAX came through from J to F 7 days 15 minutes before travel and Expert Flyer showing only 4 seats available, now 3.

First time poster, long time lurker... Made P1 three weeks ago - haven't heard boo from QF yet - what is the norm? I assume a new card in the post? Some people have mentioned phone calls?

Welcome to AFF, jimbooooooo. A phone call to the Platinum desk is definately in order. Has your profile changed to reflect your new status?

Dam, 3 weeks??? thats gotta hurt. I would ring the plat line & ask some questions. You should get a phone call for your first year qualifying, others have mentioned getting a phone call for re-qualification of WP1, but myself are still yet to receive one for re-qualification, I got a letter saying welcome again for the 2nd year, but no love on the phone for me.

I posted a few days ago with this question. I ticked over the points last Wednesday, my profile changed the next Monday and I got a call on the Tuesday.
