Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Has anyone received a card personally signed by Mr Joyce - that looked like he actually signed it?
First name salutation is typed. Usually a sign the signature isn't personal. But it's a decent reproduction and not too obviously electronic. A comparison of a few cards would tell us.

Could the L refer to which form letter you receive from Alan? I notice Chris' L2 card refers to both the champagne and being an original P1 member. The L3 card would need to refer to the headphones, obviously. What do the L1 cards say? If it's something more generic like thank you for continued support and leaves out the original P1 member bit, that could be the answer.

The SST has not responded to me since their polite offer to help us get to the bottom of this on Friday, and my whatever remains chez AusPost, so I will just wait in suspense to see my L#. :)

Top notch detective work there.
My L1 last para just says "thanks for your support..."
Signature identical.

This seems like a reasonable hypothesis. For reference, here's an "L1" letter. IMG-0374.JPG

After the CL email to bronze members earlier this year, maybe they've adopted more stringent quality control checks to their mail merges!

Do you mean the card that came with the gift(see photo above) or separately? my card with the gift was printed.

Given my alleged tendency to be a QF fanboi, clearly the "L" is your "Loyalty" rating, hence my No. 1 status :)

The L2's have been there since day one, so they are taken for granted.

The L3's have behaviours that are not blindly QF supportive, so they are getting headphones that actually are impregnated with some subliminal messages, to correct said behaviours.

Simple really.

L1 - identical signature and card. A good portion of my travel is government funded and I received the bubbles. :)

Well I just opened my gift. It’s the headphones, and the card says L3 (and the letter is enjoy the sennhiser headphones). Unsure why, as I said above I’m not government nor am I under 18. I’m presuming some of those who requalified for P1 (instead of this being their first year) also got headphones? Or is this a gift for those in their first year, then the champers for following years?

Aside from jokes, I find this whole thing very interesting. I was not P1 since inception - I think I have 3 years now as P1. I have received the champas every year. This year I have the L1 descriptor - and "only" did just over 4000 SC for this year (all on QF), and have only a couple of bookings for my next year done. Last year I think I got almost twice this?? I have no links to government, nor any other specified preference (such as non-alcohol gifts) So I am sure I am at the bottom end of the QF value stakes. Can anyone getting L3 ranking confirm or deny that this is their first year? (as per camelb's attempt to interpret the unfathomable)

This is my first year as P1. I only fell across the P1 line at ~3800 SC. I'm now half way through my current membership year and almost at 500SC

Interesting re first year.

In my first year of P1 (2014) it was the infamous books.. but I am sure EVERYONE got those.

but having something different for a first time P1 might make some sense

tbh I would have enjoyed the headphones (wired or wireless?) prob more than the champ.. but hey one does not pick and choose a gift!!

Wireless Bluetooth HD4.50BTNC

And just for reference I only have 220SCs this year, and only just got over 3600 for P1 to qualify

I can confirm I received the L3 headphones, and it is NOT my first year a P1.

Well, after five days of suspense, the official answer from the SST is ...

Hello LM

The communications that are sent out with a reference of L1 or L3 on them are just for internal use and tracking purposes.

Hope this helps

I don't dare tell them how much external use these numbers are getting!

Your post was informatively uninformative. Or more accurately the source material. ;)

I would most humbly suggest the core competence of the SST should be proactively managing our end-to-end travel requirements, not tracking down internal form letter references. :p
