Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I was actually transferred from the VIP team to VIP loyalty (which makes it worse and based on above is also WP support). Terrible service and despite 3 weeks wait, still no tag or card.

Then it was NOT the VIP Team. Tgey are based in HBA.

Also one bag tag (aka coaster) has been the norm for years now.
Yeah was given just one too....more annoying is not having the actual card as can come in useful if phone is not close at hand.

Had the Monitoring email this am for my flight tomorrow from Hong Kong, yet no email for my flight to Hong Kong today LOL.

Then my flight MEL-SYD departing 6.00 am Got the message at 5.57 that they had started boarding the flight. Doors were closed and we were being pushed back.

Had a good giggle LOL.

I seem to receive the boarding now notification from the qf app only after I'm onboard and boarding is or is nearly completed. Complete waste of something that could be useful.

Air New Zealand is really good, it's directly linked to the system so when boarding starts at the gate that's what's reflected in the app.

Another great one is SAS where once again boarding notifications in the app are spot on but they also show you the percentage of the flight boarded which updates in real time.

Flying with my family (My wife, myself, 3 year old and 3 month old) yesterday, paid business booked row 1 (I am tall and the extra room at the bulkhead with the infant it always handy), however, the aircraft was replaced by an all Economy aircraft.
That's fine, I get it, it happens.

I get a call from South Africa telling me about it a couple hours before hand and then the guy drops that they have put us in row 13. I haven't been past row 4 domestic for a long time so that was a shock to the system, nothing could be done, etc. I don't really care that much it was marginally less comfortable.
Expert Flyer shows that people have been put in there already so don't bother talking to the lounge dragons, I don't want to karen my way into having someone moved.
However, when boarding I noticed that the two people before us in the line were in Row 1 rocking a platinum and a gold status.

I am trying not to be annoyed about it, but it has me a little annoyed...

So fellow P1's, what say you; Are you sharing in my annoyance or am I being ridiculous.

My guess is that 'the system' just moved all economy bookings into the equivelant row in the new aircraft (ie. row 4 became row 1) and then they placed the former business customers into the gaps, but that seems like a terrible approach...

A legitimate complaint in my opinion. Has happened to me a number of times on the 717s, and we've been put into the exit rows (presumably for extra legroom or they are available). Never had prior warning via a call though. Fortunately I have usually had good lounge staff who can get me a better seat. One guy in Canberra even brought up a seat map of the entire plane to show me what was available, get us into row 1 and blocking the middle seat between us without displacing anyone else. But there was a bit of luck there no doubt.

I would have spoken with the lounge team and made something work if I were on my own, but with the kids, didn't want to leave my wife having to deal with both in the middle of the airport.

I didn't check to see if the exit row was full, perhaps they placed the rest of the former J passengers in there. Hopefully.

Glad to see I am not being completely ridiculous.

Just an FYI, I've heard that QF has been handing out upgrades very proactively in May but that policy had a hard stop on 1 June. This was for WP and P1 so don't expect these as frequently moving forward.
Won’t bother me as I never got one 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm usually in the highest fare class but on the one occasion i wasn't I did get one SYD-BNE. I heard they included even international so potentially J to F or Y to J. The VIP team ones will continue but will be on an ad hoc basis.

Not sure that's correct.

If you look on the Qantas Platinum group on Facebook, there are tonnes of comp upgrade boarding pass messages still being posted. The last was 20 hours ago. Someone posted one of Y->J SYD-LAX 2 days ago.

But I wouldn't be surprised if it does end soon. Management wouldn't want to set expectations in the other direction (ie elites are entitled to free upgrades into empty seats).

That certainly gels with my experience

I felt like I was blessed in May with 25% strike rate and even J-F comp on QF1. Has dropped back to the usual 10%(ish) now.
Still grateful to get those nice surprises though.

I just got a comped upgrade as WP yesterday (12 June) on a Trans-Tasman flight. Was even a Sale fare.

Is it an unofficial P1 benefit when cancelling a classic award, you don't get charged the cancellation fee?
This happened to me recently 🤫 😂
