Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Had a positive P1 experience with QF128 HKG/SYD delays of 12-24 hours that have affected these flights ex HKG the last few days. Both platinum partner and P1 me got moved onto Saturday's flight, which is now departing Sunday night, instead of our booked Sunday flight which is now departing Monday. Got to keep our W to J upgrades too. The P1 team does a good job in such situations, I have found, something I find very valuable. Not sure if this would have occurred as a 'mere platinum'.

On the flip side, I haven't received a single P1 special event invitation in about a year. It used to be the the case that they rang seemingly every couple of weeks.

So... You were moved to another flight that has the same departure date as your original flight and this is a positive thing related to P1? :S I would call this a basic expectation as a traveller...

Nice P1 upgrade (from SST) on Saturday MEL-BNE. Looks like it was done around 23h prior (and I had a low Sequence number despite not checking in until day of departure at airport). I'd noticed via EF my 4F seat assignment had disappeared and 1A was taken. Sure enough, checked in, 1A was mine with the note.

Flight was fairly empty heaps of spares in Y. J was filled with upgrades and some NRSA staff, but I still had the seat next to me free. Thank you P1.

I was on a Q fare (red-E) so fairly cheap.

And a funny moment at BNE.. we got in 30min early (the quickest flight north I've ever had - 1:35 or so MEL-BNE!!!) so I wanted to duck in for a pit stop and a drink (water/juice) before getting on the train into Bris) and remembered I could get in post flight as a WP. I showed my card at the desk and asked to confirm it was Ok to get in on this post my flight. BOTH agents exclaimed "Oh yes!!" then one of them said "That card"(pointing to my P1 card)".. is a MAGIC card!" :D that was quite funny. I wanted to quip that I bet the Black (CL) one is more magic but I thought better of it.

Thanks P1, that was really lovely.

Really good to hear there are some upgrades that aren't just (on the face of it) op-ups!! Well done.

I assume there's a separate Chairman's Lounge in Bne?? In which case the most magic card the desk agents would see is the white P1 card!

good point there! I didn't consider that, but maybe the odd CL wants to "slum" it with the J lounge crew from time to time. I dunno.

My white card hasn't produced much magic for me, but twice at check-ins (once in Cairns, and once in Canberra) previous time as P1 I got a "never seen this card before; oh Platinum One; wow, you'd think there'd be a flasher colour than white for P1" !!

A CL WP1 is probably the holy grail as far as QF cards go. There is probably only a few hundred of those in existence.

I had an interesting flight on Sundays QF30 from HKG back to MEL I was already in J on a rather expensive last minute ticket (was a refurb bird too which eased the pain somewhat), anyway I was in 4A and the lady in 4C (i think its C as i never take those window seats) was a CL. However the CSM - really nice chap was on for quite a chat a number of times with me, but paid her scant regard. I often get the line, "You guys fly more than we do" - which of course isn't true but is nice none the less.

The CX flight prior from PEK was a polar opposite basically getting ignored by the CX staff, I think they are still grumpy I divorced them a while ago ;)

Which routes do you fly most? When I was P1 (a couple years back now), I found that the auto-block was visible on routes such as CNS-SYD and CNS-BNE for me, but for high-density routes such as SYD-BNE, I wouldn't see the auto-block as often.

I would usually see it - even as a WP, but definitely as a P1, but yes - airport agents often do remove/ignore it.

I almost never see the magic "X" block for me on the trunk routes (MEL-SYD/BNE v.v.) as above, which makes sense, but yes some of the leisure routes (eg: CNS) I've seen it, even in J.

just wondering would CLPO (CL WP1) have a Black Card or White Card?

Collingwood Membership Card with Eddie's face on it....

I would imagine, tbh, the card would be black as a CL card for entry to CL lounges (I don't know if you swipe to get into them or have to show someone but if you need verification by a human, it would be much easier to have the black card I think). So I'd go for black.

Now, I bet you there's a CL P1 lurking here... out yourself!! :D

Not a P1 experience per se, but I booked my tickets to the CAN II night a while ago and selected front row of Y, 23, on an A330.

Flash forward to T-24 checkin and I'm suddenly in 25. I assumed a CL bumped me. The guy sat in the seat has a P1 tag on his bag though... So there's a lovely benefit!

In other news, this flight has 9 infants but I'm in 25D with the bassinets and no infants, somehow! :D
