Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Bag tags I recieved were the dark grey platinum ones, same as the half a dozen other platinum ones I have!

Yeah, if your profile online says P1, then you should get the white tags & card.

When did your FF account update to P1? sometimes it takes a while for the cards & tags to come out, usually for me 2 weeks.

Some more indifferent P1 experiences on Domestic Y flights last week.

Sought some shadows / courtesy blocks on a couple of longer sectors (SYD-CNS-SYD). Usual nice email reply and I could see on EF the lock was issued. Trouble I a day later the block was gone. Another email to P1 team and it was reinstated (an aircraft change is enough to kill it, apparently). Fine, but the next day gone again. Feeling very petty but I asked for it again - this time it stuck.

Both flights the shadows held, and my 4C then 4D flights were nice and comfortable. The second flight was close to full so the shadow holding was great.

But onboard absolutely no recognition or greeting from the CSM or offer of anything to make flight more comfortable. Gail, the first CSM, in particular seemed very lackluster - curtain was pretty open so could see she basically sat down after the meal - call buttons were used by J pax 3 or 4 times. Pretty unusual for a 3 hour daytime flight. No-one else in Y around me got a greeting either.

No upgrade of course. J cabins near full but still room for Qantas staff (in uniform) to get onboard last with two boarding passes in hand, so all very obvious.

Nothing new except the lack of even token recognition.

Sorry to be so negative, again.

Today I fly my last membership year flight, which will get me 3600 SC's for the 4th year.

I have been tracking my flights/cost/Op-Ups for 4 years now.

Year 2011-2012 4220 SC's, Cost in flights to get P1 $34k (work) Personal $7k
Year 2012-2013 4250 SC's, Cost in flights to get P1 $24k (Work) Personal $15k
Year 2013-2104 3635 SC's, Cost in flights to get P1 $28k (Work) Personal $7k
Year 2014-2015 3600 SC's, Cost in flights to get P1 $28k (work) Personal $12k

I have changed company & role now, with a different roster & don't plan on going for P1 next year, unless I change jobs for a better position & look at going back onto a 8/6 or 9/5 roster.

I have enjoyed P1, & will make use of my last year coming up. Overall the best thing is pick your seats at time of booking (best benefit by far) also the Op-Up's that I have received. At a very close 2nd is the SST, The SST are awesome, they have done everything I have requested, I have had 3 special experiences over the lats 3 years as P1 (P!NK concert, Tickets to MLB game in SYD, B747 Sim) I'm really hoping for more opportunity's this year.

Op-Up Rates below, that is from whY to J domestically, only 1 J-F Op-Up.

2012 - as WP was 2%
2013 - as P1 20.3%
2014 - as P1 20.0%
2015 - as P1 21.1%

The P1 product is definitely not as good as it can be, & not worth triple WP, but once you have it, you certainly don't want to let go :)

I really wonder if the onboard experiences are due to this ongoing (apparent) issue of the status not showing at all on the main manifest. Seems P1 team should be pushing really hard internally to get this fixed up - if it really is an issue.

I will say in all my domestic J trips (some paid, some upgrade, one op up) they've clearly known that I have some sort of status - even on op up/upgrades ticket I was treated ahead of last minute upgrades and staff for meal choices etc but apart from greeting when BP is scanned, and they can see the "PLAT ONE" on the BP, nothing more specific noted onboard (but it is dom J so I wouldn't expect anything per se)

My previous series of flights I had a visit from the CSM, along with WPs. On these latest flights no-one around me in Y had anything. One of them I knew two others in row 4 were WPs. So in ths instance I don't think it was a P1 fail vs WP - just a complete lack of any greeting. Didn't see an IPAD but of course being in row 4 that's not conclusive.

While I'm (genuinely) happy for you danny09 - can't help but feel another twist of the knife seeing those op-up rates!!

I could only imagine! I don't fly many oversold flights, as with my work the last few years we try pick the cheaper flex fares, & never in advance.

I guess I'm just lucky, which is why I will be sad this time next year!

I was going to ask if they were oversold. And if you are based in Kalgoorlie - to be invited to events in Melbourne/Sydney (I presume?) is very good service. Don't blame you for being sad.

Some PHE-PER flights are over sold, but that was only twice this year that i can remember. KGI flights are never over sold, be lucky to get on a 737 out of KGI nowadays.

Yeah invited to events in SYD (MLB game & 747 Sim) the P!NK convert was in PER.

I don't believe there is much luck involved, not with those solid op-up stats over the period of three years. It's most likely due to the routes and number of P1/CL commuting on those routes.
Here in the East coast numbers are about 5-7% per annum calculated over the period of 4 years, unless I was very unlucky all the time.

Completely agree about the CL/P1 numbers on my flights, generally am the only P1 on the flights I'm on (can always tell by EF & blocked seats) some occasions there are 2 other P1's on the flights.

So yeah I guess it's locations rather than luck.

Recently on a 738 flight the CSM iPad was open and upright at the front door. The screen it was on showed the number of pax by tier. It was (in order): VIP, P1, CL, WP and then I didn't notice the rest. Probably what you'd expect. P1 listed above CL!! I don't know if the iPad is always used in this manner on all flights, but that was quite obvious.
So maybe it's not that the staff aren't aware of P1s, maybe they just choose not to provide that level of acknowledgement.

So who was the VIP? :p

Haha. There were none. Would be interested in how you *become* a VIP and who determines that!
I was in row 5 and didn't get a WP greeting and from what I could tell, the CL/P1s in row 4 didn't either.

I barely get any greetings on Dom flights.
In fact I seem to get better treatment when using flyahead and sitting down the back. The CSM usually approach me with surprised look: "what are you doing HERE Mr. B?! Can I get you anything to ease the pain?" Lol

Don't know that one can assume a block on EF indicates a CL or P1 .....

heck I've been on flights and NOT had a block next to me :p

Thanks. Not that it made any difference but my AY boarding passes had my QF number on one line, QF FFPO on the next, with OW emerald status on the next line. So system does pick it up and it potentially could be used to recognise another airline's higher tier pax.

I had a good look at the EK iPad (well HP Tablet or something..) and the purser explained they couldnt recognise FFPO over CL/FFPL. To them, we all were the highest level of pax. They did also have a category for their version of CL, IO (invitation only). Interesting their 'partner' chooses not to recognise the basic nuances of QF's loyalty program.
