Qantas Points Club Discussion

Understand importance of non flight related revenue for QF, (particularly when noones flying) but agree this is next to useless to people who don't play the CC shuffle game or can divert all their personal/corporate spend through point earning CCs and rather spend their time actually flying
It seems SME owners who put through all their corporate spending on points-earning credit cards and who don't otherwise fly very often themselves would benefit most from this program.

My SC balance has just jumped by about 500 SC, with all award flights taken since 06SEP19 having now accrued Points Club SC.

Amazing they can run this script in the space of several minutes, but can't credit a JQ Business Max fare within 14 days of flying...

Maybe all this downtime will give QF an opportunity to look at their IT!!

So we have reached the stage where someone can be a WP Qantas Frequent Flyer without going anywhere near an aircraft let alone actually flying... good for those with lots of credit cards and a fear of flying....😁😷🧻

I qualified as Points Plus. As I am already LTG I would actually prefer to be at base level, then I would get 2 lounge invitations which I could gift to other people. I will get little to no benefit from the other stuff. Things get weird sometimes but such is life!
You just gave me a thought, I’m on track to get to the Plus level before my QF membership expire, wonder if I could apply for the lounge invitations now as it’s QC membership is useless me too.

Thought the max SC that can be credited via this method is 100 SC or did I misread?

I also somehow made it into Points Club and as my membership year just started and I flew in early March, I've already exhausted all I can earn from flights. I don't have a direct earn CC though, at least not a primary one, so I fear 2021 will see me drop from the advantageous point of earning off classic awards. Better enjoy it while I can.

Would you like a referral?

I think the poster was referring to the fact that Qantas appear to have gone back through your current membership year and figured out at what point you became eligible for Points Club, then credited SC for any Classic Reward Flights you took after that point. Essentially backdating any SC earn from this method.

The 100 SC limit is rollover points for Points Club Plus members.

349,021 points so only 921 to go and I have until 30 June so no issue for me this year. (I did reconcile and it was pretty close but my figures suggest I am just over now)

The new Consumer Credit Code might hurt me going forward. Just retired but have kept a 7 figure LOC which I think is going to make it tough to get too many credit card applications through so going to have to rely on mainly credit card spend, Woolies and Qantas wines. I guess I just need to drink more now 🍻🍷🥃

Maybe the status credit carry forward will help me get and retain more Gold more consistently so becomes a non issue anyway

All in all, pretty happy with this - finally an "enhancement" working in our favour for a change

The requirement of 4 eligible sectors flown on Qantas/Jetstar would prevent anyone from getting status without actually doing any flying.

Agree - it's weird to see Qantas do something which benefits us. There's an upside for them of course, but it seems to be a win-win.

Eligible sectors aside, is there a suggestion someone can gain SC without flying?

Biz rewards points dont get counted towards this, so if you have the Amex Qantas Biz card... its no good

you need a personal card used for Biz to get the points to count
