Qantas Points Club Discussion

Have been keeping an eye on cards but I just can't bring myself to apply for some that have historically had such better options
If you are eligible, CommBank Ultimate gives 70k with no fees when you spend $2500 each month. I see that us increasing to $4000 from late August which is mesing with my future plans.

I decided to get in quick for the StG/BoM/BankSA cards before they hike up the annual fee big time for Qantas cards come July. $295 annual fee + $75 Qantas Program fee for the Dragon signature come 20th July...

I'll check this out. I think the earn rate scared me off but if it's a quick churn and burn that's less important.

Be warned it took 2 months to get these points earlier this year.
MrsR got the NAB Qantas Rewards Premium bonus points in 2 weeks! I dont know if they still have a bonus points offer.

Most of the offers at the moment seem to have full priced annual fees, I may be being a bit cheap but still longing for those good old days of points plus no or low fee...

I think those days are long gone. I have a theory Qantas has increased the cost it sells QFF points to banks for, because almost every bank has raised their annual fee on QF-earning cards (either directly or by removing pro rata refunds), reduced the sign-up bonus or some combination of the two.

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Apologies if this has been asked before but do I still receive the 2x lounge passes if I've requalified for PC+?

Just to clarify, does PC or PCP show more than normal availability for reward flights?

I'm PC and 25K away from reaching PCP, which I should reach for the first time before my membership year resets at the end of September. I often have issues with reward flights as my wife is a school teacher and getting anything international during school holidays is always hard work.
Definitely no more rewards than your normal metal.

I think your theory holds - it's possible there's multiple layers of fees to the banks from QF (some annual per card component, per point ongoing, discounted for sign up bonuses). Whatever the case is, the customer-facing offerings are starting to look more homogenous across the banks.

I have been points club plus for two years now.
A bit of a dud when i think about it.
Firstly, if I'm earning that many points to get there I'm usually flying award business class anyway. The Qantas club is irrelevant.
I use the $100 hotel voucher. Thank you
The wine voucher is rarely of use as the wines are invariably dearer than Dan.
QC got me +1 into the zoo that is Hobart lounge. On one occasion!
$164 total value in 2 years.
Needless to say I've left Bankwest and now chasing ubank rewards.

Nope - they think QC membership (non-transferable) holds more value

Yep the same.
100 status credits rollover and status credits on reward flights is about the only ‘real value’
I’m thinking of diverting part of my spend to Krisflyer points but I need to do the research
No point collecting even more Qantas points when I have so many and it’s becoming more difficult to redeem flights

Some of you may have seen this; and it could be handy for those who are close to the PC or PC+ line, and maybe have a points reward or 30% discounted points+pay flights in mind? Not the best value at between 1.8c & 3.1c per point, but better than it usually is: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/my-account/points-activity/top-up-points.html
  • Get 25% more Qantas Points when you top-up with 10,000 - 29,000 points or;
  • Get 50% more Qantas Points when you top-up with 30,000 - 150,000 points
With thousands of Qantas Hotels stays to choose from, 50% more Classic Flight Reward availability until the end of the year,** and so many other ways to use your points - how will you reward yourself?

See how many bonus points you could earn:

My membership year ends on 30 June, I'm not that far from PC+ but I would need to buy a bit of top up points.

If I achieved PC+ this year for the 100 SC rollover, would I need to re-qualify in FY23/24 to get another 100 SC rollover after 30/6/24? I would wouldn't I... I just needed to type it out loud to make sense in my head.

I assume though it would be a soft-landing back to PC the same way status tiers work.

It's a Yes to question 1, and a No to question 2 - you only get one SC rollover benefit per qualifying year, and there are no 'soft landings' to PC from PC+, unless of course you have the 150K qualifying points earned by then.

Cheers,
Matt.

It has been painful trying to contact anyone regarding Points Club, much less receive a response. On my anniversary date of Feb 28, I evidently did not quite have enough points to renew PC+. Very close though. Still qualified for PC though. Since then I have not received a hotel voucher or a wine voucher. I have also flown four classic reward flights but not received status credits. 0. Emails remain unanswered after receiving a case number! I keep filling in claims for not receiving points for flights, trying for a response.

Today I spoke to someone who seemed just as clueless, quoting three levels of Points Club, the first being not yet qualified for Points Club. ??? He finally listened to what I was saying and said he would have to send the information to “the back room” (yes, really) and someone would contact me tomorrow.

I am now ready to telephone daily until those status credits are applied. What a pain!

Last year i requalified for PC after letting it lapse briefly and i only got wine voucher no hotel voucher. I requalified this year back in April and no wine or hotel voucher this year.

Lodge a support ticket and only response is to check spam folder, which they are not in but are supposed to show up online. Thankfully i do earn SCs on award flight's which is the main benefit of PC imo.

Not letting my concerns go unanswered, I rang QFF again this afternoon. This time the man who answered (Jonah) advised that I had 422,513 Points Club points expire on February 28th. Therefore, I should have retained Points Club Plus. Currently my QFF account shows that I have not earned PC at all! Once again he has referred my concerns to the PC people and they will ring me back "by Monday".

So I should have received 100SC roll over, hotel voucher and wine vouchers, AND earned SCs on my classic reward flights since March 1st.

I am not holding my breath for a call back, so I will be making another telephone call on Monday.
